A Singaporean's guide to living in Thailand

At a restaurant called themselves very inappropriately La Mer. Seafood by the sea touted itself for having the best view in Hua Hin. I agree 100%. But food is hmmmmm nothing special but not undelicious.

No lah, culture is to have at least a girl in the family who will marry a farang. That is the ultimate social security benefits.

I understand that this type of thinking is more prevalent in issan where they call it mia farang in which the girl's ambition is to simply marry a white man for monetary purposes and for her village to leech off from him.

Queen seok duk used to say that the culture of thailand wasn't very good cos many of the poorer thai families actually sell or rent their daughters to whore houses to make money and of course selling backside is one viable career option that a thai female can take up. I also under that "curly" is thai slang for a low class whore like those in pattaya but those that sell backside in more upmarket places like posideon won't be considered "curly" am i correct?

Don't like that leh. I trying to go healthy last few days and you post all the temptations. :*:

How come your hennessy and red wine missing from the pics har? :p

This one healthy enough?

First of all your soup looks great, made me think of home.

Prices of food varies depending of location. This restaurant where I had lunch I felt is overpriced charging $40 per kg. This little crab is like only 300g I think. If you see my yesterday's post on lunch the whole meal was only like $55 we plan to go there again tomorrow on our way back to Bangkok.

I like to post a very nice desert I had tonight that I shared. This is the first time we've seen this as its not available in Bangkok, I guess its very innovative:

First you've got coconut, half, meat nicely scraped but left in the shell.

Then you're given 2 very thick and rich scoops of coconut ice-cream made from the coconut water

Then you can select as many types of condiment as you like and as much as you like (they will tall you its buffet style) this include pineappple, nuts, red beans, corn, cereals, crushed hard boil eggs etc, then you top it off with coconut mike

You end up with this beautiful thing for 45 baht ($1.80)

After looking at pics of Thai food, I'm beginning to crave for Moo Ga Tat again. But whenever I'm back in Bangkok, the crave fizzles out. It's kind of weird eating Moo Ga Tat alone.

dessert, bro. desert is the one at sahara.

he he he he I a little drunk la. Now into our second red but throug out the day had been drinking also. Spent 2hrs at the beach in the afternoon with a bottle of rose.

Morning guys. A cool and pleasant morning over here in Sin City. Was in Chonburi city yesterday with partner to look at some potential office/shop spaces. Chonburi City is quite an interesting place with lots of hospital and medical facilities. Seems that the city is actively promoting healthcare tourism. Another interesting thing is I have not seen a single farang there and the majority of the foreigners in Chonburi City are Japanese who worked in nearby Sri Racha and Laem Chabang.

Hehehe. Here's my breakfast. Coffee. A little tired of wholemeal so will go out for my official breakfast.

I don't used too much but without it, taste very plain. The only time I don't use this is when I am cooking tonic soup (Black Chicken) or Shi Quan (Sip Zhuan). One of the things I da bao from SG is ginseng root cos' cannot afford the real thing. When I free, I will cook Ginseng (root) chicken.

OK, this one is more for LOS drivers. Was at Caltex in Chonburi and decided to try out Benzine 95 (called Gold 95 Techron). Normally, I use Benzine 91 or Gasohol 95.

The engine is much smooth and pick up is faster. BUT it's damm expensive at THB 46.02/litre.

Sawasdee krup Pii Chon. Just work up, slept at almost 3 finishing the second and talking, its been like so so so long since I talked to a person for so long and on so many thinigs. Sabhai sabhai.

Normally people come Hua Hin for the beach. Because decision was made the last minute and coupled with Vesak day long weekend it was very difficult to get a room. Finally I got it from Agoda this place and I think it was a blessing in disguise as we really enjoyed this quiet and serene place. Its like 13km from the Hua Hin centre driving into baanook areas to arrive at this resort and the rooms are like baan-din style (m&d house). Pii Chon I am sure you like this because you told be before you like baanook setting.

The staff here are very helpful and cheerful. Location wise as I described is something you like and not far from the city centre. Its also only 10km from the famous Wat Huay Mongkol Temple which many Thais and tourist like to visit.

If you have GPS this is it - GPS Coordinates: 12° 31.780' N – 99° 54.216' E. Vana Varin Resort.

This morning is sunny and nice as I can see from inside the room. Ok I will post some photos of the outside later when we go out later for breakfast in the resort restaurant I need to go finish up something now.

Was with a Malaysian earlier this week in Bangkok and he commented that Malaysia's benzine costs only half of Thailand's.

Ok Pii Chon here are some photos

Typical baan-din, inside very cooling and big even for the smallest room. I had the Oval Romance room. less than 3000 baht all in breakfast included.

Dining

Taken from dining balcony. Notice each baan-din is surrounding the pond so every unit balcony is the water, quite nice except for the mozzies.
