A Singaporean's guide to living in Thailand

Re: A Singaporean\\\'s guide to living in Thailand

Just got back from Chonburi city. Chonburi City is much quiet than Sin City. Not much entertainment but quite a pleasant place to stay or retire. Sin city is only 60 km away so no problem.
So an hour journey? why no photo?

Re: A Singaporean\\\'s guide to living in Thailand

you feeling better?

Came home for dinner and fever started so went to hospital to see doc and got lots of medicine. Then went to meet supplier at 9.45pm just came back. No choice la they came for exhibition and I short of time to meet them so got to squeeze in for them.

I am feeling very mai-sabhai now. I hope will be better tomorrow. Gotta go pack my staff. Flight is 7.30pm go office till noon.

Re: A Singaporean\'s guide to living in Thailand

This is official....Kaoli refers to the Goryeo or Koryŏ Dynasty.
Hangul: 고려; Hanja: 高麗.... PRCs/Taiwanese also refers to korean as 高麗.
Thanks for this info. Now I know why Korea is called Kaoli and not because of kim chi which is usually made from cabbages!
Now I am guessing what each nation is called is when both countries had first contact?

Official PRC media calls North Korea "Chao Sian" & South Korea "Han Guo". I know before the Korean War the whole country was known as Chao Sian. And didn't know so many nicks used on Thai TV commentary :*:

Re: A Singaporean\\\'s guide to living in Thailand

Going bad traffic and took me 80 mins, returning is slighly more than 30 mins. Chonburi is very quiet at night. Not much activites after 8 pm other than hawkers selling food.

Kop kun kaa Pii for the welcome. Yes I hope to make Thailand home one day. Was there on-off for 2 years based in Bangkok. Sadly my business didn't take off so now back in the Lion City plotting my next move.

Since on the topic of your health. Do u buy medical insurance in Thailand? Or your policies in Singapore can cover the expenses if say you are hospitalized (TOUCH WOOD!) & need some operation. I went to a hospital in Bangkok once and they charged me "foreigner" price! WTF! Not a pleasant surprise. Luckily I was sick only once throughout my 2 years there. Getting older & have to think of health matters if considering long term stay in Thailand. Don't think I would want to visit their government medical facilities nor do I qualify for Thaksin's Bht20 (or is it Bht40?) generosity.

Re: A Singaporean\'s guide to living in Thailand

TDDD, what type of visa are you holding during your 2 year stay in BKK? Some type of visa allow you to apply for medical entitlements.

Good for you, any house warming party?:D

LK style's very "continental" (classic european) style.

A stiff cognac's good for your cold (and not just old wives tale). Christ almighty, you onto this punishing flight 20 hours+ to uncle sam? Direct via west coast or via Narita? Sometimes change of weather may also do you good. Bon voyage.

Doing krungthep 1-3/5 for meeting with JV, and skiving off to N Sawan 4/5. Tempted to do your local bistro WILY (not other willy +555). Cheers mate
