A Singaporean's guide to living in Thailand

Businesses in Thailand had been very challenging past few months. Ever since I got back from my short holiday in Phuket in May its been one trip after another to the upcountry of Thailand visiting customers to push sales. Past three months' effort had been paid off with increase of sales however the next challenging part is to sustain till the end of the year and beyond. Anyway I am back now and hope to post more regularly.

I'm always amazed with the Thai cuisine in its presentation. Even though a dish could be simple and inexpensive the presentation is often colourful and enticing. For example this simple meal at countryside

A simple krapow minced pork and rice with so many coloursn covering over white rice

Another simple dish, omelette, so fluffy and puffy and crispy on the outside is out ot of the world

Tomyam with small shrimps (in countryside you don't get big prawns) again look at the colour

Finally this simple sardine salad is once again colourful and fresh looking

Good looking delicious food, every dish freshly cooked individually when you order. Prepared by simple countryside folks from the heart. This meal costs only S$8.40.

One day I was really bored with the usual restaurants I go so I asked my maid for recommendation. She said there's a beautiful restaurant near home (about 4-5km away. So was right, it was beautiful. I'd like to share some photos of the restaurant before I post the food.

@Froggy Is it hard to get a maid in Thailand. If I stay there for 2 months, how hard is it to get a maid for that time period? Need cleaning and cooking. Wash clothes, market shopping, etc. So no one year or 2 year contracts. Liddat can find or not?

First of all it is extremely difficult to get a Thai citizen maid as most Thais do not want to work as a maid so many Thais here or residents could only get Myanmar or Cambodian maids.

2 months contract make it even more difficult, almost impossible.

One day I really missed Singapore's sambal chili so I decided to make it myself and give some to my friends in Thailand

One night I was driving home but it poured heavily as usual traffic was very bad when it rains let alone storm so I turn into a soi from the main road and afterdriving about 2km discovered this restaurant known as Krua Baan Suan (Home Garden Kitchen).
