The camera market these days is more or less a triopoly between Canon, Sony and Nikon.

Back in the day there were plenty of brands: Yashica and Minolta etc.

Some of them should collaborate with smartphone manufacturers.

Leica should also find another customer as Huawei is going to be kaput.

back in the 90s I did my part. Bought the olympus mu and recommended it to so many people. I'm directly responsible for 4 sales other than myself!

Olympus has the best film camera ever made with its sophisticated multi-spot metering from the 80s. Sadly it didn't get the recognition it deserves because it gave users too much control over exposure.

Up until two years ago, I was still lugging around my Nikon camera on overseas trips when everyone else were using their smartphones. I have joined the crowd, because phone cameras take pretty awesome photos too, and they are more convenient.

If I travel as a photographer I take all my gear... camera, tripod, lenses... the works.

If I travel as a tourist I use my phone.

I keep my fanciest cameras for studio work.
