A bad workman blames his tools: FT Tao Li blames her coach

<<For my standard, had I not gone through a change of coach, I could have gone up a notch.>>

From 10th to 9th place? What's the diff?

One notch lor... exactly as Tao Li puts it. She might as well blame the weather, her swimming costume and everything else.

SHe is a Northern Mainlander,,do u think she will accept her own failures? can blame sky and earth,,but we all know what sort of talents they are,,,,only PAP believe in them

Unbelievable ?

Ye-Shiwen--008.jpg

I can't say I'm disappointed because I don't expect her to go into the final but I supposed that is all she can do. Cannot means cannot even with a 5% improvement ?

The question is : is she still training as hard as anyone else ? This Ye Shiwen who measured 1.72 m could outpace many of her western competitors.

China has the pool to put them in the pool.

Ye Shiwen's world record Olympic swim 'disturbing', says top US coach

The first major doping controversy of the London Olympics flared to life today after John Leonard, the executive director of the World Swimming Coaches Association, described the gold medal-winning performance of 16-year-old Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen in the women's 400m individual medley as "unbelievable".

Leonard, who is also the executive director of the USA Swimming Coaches Association, described Ye's swim as "disturbing" and said that it "brings back a lot of awful memories" of Irish swimmer Michelle Smith's winning performance in the same event at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. Smith, now Michelle de Bruin, was banned for four years in 1998 after testing positive for androstenedione.

Leonard is the first major figure in the swimming world to voice his concerns after Ye's world record swim shocked the sport. Ye won the 400m IM gold in a world record time of 4min 28.43sec. It was her final 100m of freestyle, in which she recorded a split time of 58.68sec, that aroused Leonard's suspicion. Over the last 50m she was quicker than Ryan Lochte, who won the men's 400m IM in the second-fastest time in history.

Re: Unbelievable ?

I recall that she had issues with her previous angmo coach and his contract was not renewed.

Re: Unbelievable ?

Singkie cannot perform, blame govt for FTs.

Ranked 10 out of 16 which means that in terms of 100 percentile calculation she did not meet even 40% & that's a confirm F9 in any examination & even if she had move a notch up she still did not meet the 50% mark leh!

for an olympic swimmer, every inch in the physique can make a difference in microseconds, extrapolated over the length of the contest. if she's below 6 feet, she might as well resort to doping to get an edge. there's no way in hell a smaller frame can win over larger frames in olympic swimming sprints unless the limbs are superhuman.

Hahaha! She looks like some coffeeshop drinks stall auntie.

all the hogwash excuses. even being second means you are first amongst a long line of losers. that's life. that's world class competition. unfortunately alot of sing offcials eg jessie p do not even have a world class attitude and her statements give lie to the reason why there is no world class athlete(except tan liang howe ) for past 50 years and maybe for the next 500 years if such attitude remains.
as for braggrat tao li, she probably might not even make it as provincial champ back home in China. create a small splash in Asian games and talk big(noticed most asian games countries are not swimming interested countries or land locked like bhutan). they should take back all her asian games money and incentives. for such born loser attitude if you cannot stand the heat get out of the kitchen(Olympics). stop all the silly excuses

that's physics. it has nothing to do with race, except for blacks who typically have higher bone density making them denser and heavier in water. if chinese, jap or korean swimmers have long frames as lengthy as white ones, they can compete one on one and win with good training and coaching. but it will require one in a million to find such a one, while for ang mo tua kee, they can find one in ten. it's all in the numbers.

Actually, height can be translated to strength. But, this 16 yo Chinese from Zhejiang is only about 172 cm, and I suppose that Quah Ting Wen who was much taller than her, measuring at 175 cm could not even make it to the Olympic games.

Tao has broad shoulders. Maybe, her hydrodynamics didn't work too well for her. Resistance ?

However, my friend told me that some are born to run. Like me, I was a champ in sprinting during my army days. No reason why I'm stronger ? Actually, there is a reason for my performance. But, I rather keep it as a secret for awhile.

take for example, the relays. ang mo tua kee can string together 4 lanky swimmers for each ang mo cuntry (except for usa which has one black out of over 20 million blacks) while asian cuntries can string only 1 or 2 top swimmers in a relay team. at the end, it's a numbers game.
