ABOUT nine in 10 people are satisfied with public transport in Singapore, said the latest survey by the Land Transport Authority.

Conducted last October, the survey polled more than 2,600 commuters. Almost 90 per cent of them said they were satisfied with the overall public transport services in Singapore.

This is slightly higher than the 86.5 per cent who said so in a similar survey two years ago.

Overall, respondents gave public transport services a 7.1 on a 10-point scale, where 1 represents 'not satisfied' and 10 represents 'very satisfied'.

Those polled also ranked safety and security as the most important service factor in public transport. This was followed by waiting times and reliability.

Eighty-eight per cent and 64 per cent of respondents said they were satisfied with safety and waiting times respectively.

Overall, MRT services scored higher with commuters compared to buses. MRT services received a rating of 7.5 out of 10 while bus services were scored 6.9.

LTA chief executive Yam Ah Mee said the survey results will help the LTA focus its efforts on what is important to commuters.

'We are pleased that more commuters are satisfied with our bus and train services. However, we recognise that there is still much to be done,' he said.

As usual with SPH news, negative responses has been filtered to make look good which in fact everyday people are complaining non-stop.

SPH can fool with small kids but not adult.

hmm i wonder how they phrased the questions?

was crowdedness during peak hours ever asked?

who did they asked? PAP grassroots leaders or FTs?

Isnt it obvious who the LTA surveyed?:confused::confused:

Since:
More than 9 out of 10 real people (not running dog) I know tak boleh tahan MRT crowdedness, smelliness, danger of molest, etc.:mad::mad:

Obviously:
The LTA survey officers walked around their own LTA offices, handing out survey forms to kaki lang.:D:D:D

Pscyho the Peasants to accept price hike in line with "improving market conditions"?

They shot themselves in the foot.

If 9 out of 10 are happy with public transport, why did they fine SBS $10,000 a month back?

after they fine 10K, they buck up, now 9 out of 10 happy? :D

$10, 000 is pocket change and money used for D & D & R & R !

I know that these stupid studies are engineered to produced the results needed.

I know of a few professors who did such studies for govt agencies. When the results were unfavorable, the agencies would reprimand them and say 'your study is not thorough enough!' So the lan lan have to rephrase and massage the questions for the 'right' results. :oIo:

Those 9 surveyed have never travelled out of the country to experience other transport system.
Ours is still in the bronze age compared to some.
