6 youths arrested for rioting

SINGAPORE: Six male youths, aged between 15 and 17, have been arrested for rioting following a staring incident on Christmas Eve.
An 18-year-old was also assaulted in the incident.
Police said they received a call on December 24 at about 10.20pm that the victim was found at East Coast Parkway with multiple bruises and abrasions on his face.
Their preliminary investigations revealed the incident was not gang-related and the victim was assaulted by a group of youths after a staring incident.
The officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the suspects who were arrested on Christmas Day and Boxing Day at Marine Terrace and Eunos Road.
Investigations are ongoing.
Those convicted of rioting can be jailed up to seven years and also caned.
