51kg ketamine found in crate
NILAI: A syndicate tried to smuggle in ketamine in a container laden with punjabi suits and sarees, thinking that enforcement would be lax in the run-up to Hari Raya. However, their attempt was foiled by Customs officers, who managed to find 51.2kg of ketamine worth RM565,000 stuffed in one of the boxes of clothes brought into Northport, Port Klang, from Chennai, India.
Customs assistant director-general Datuk Ismail Ibrahim said his officers seized two containers at the port on Monday following a tip-off. “We brought the containers back to our place, opened all the 281 boxes and found the ketamine in one of the boxes,” he told reporters at the headquarters here yesterday.
