Chitchat 50 years on and we still consume these "medicines"

I will give this to the Chinese, they saw all the associations a long time ago and were correct. But they could not explain it scientifically. Instead they came up with a fancy philosophy of wood, fire, earth, metal, water. And Qi, blood, essence etc. All this of course in today's world is outdated. They did associate how the psychological state of the mind eg stress, depression, anxiety , worry could PHYSICALLY alter organ structures.

I certainly agree wholeheartedly that the mind controls the body because I have been able to measure the results. On the days when I am anxious and worried my BP is 140/85.

On days when I feel serene and relaxed it reads 120/70.

I have reached the point when I pretty much know what my BP reading is going to be on my monitor simply from the state of mind I am in.

However this validates my point that everything is measurable. If Yin and Yang are balanced, it has to show up somewhere in some parameter that is measurable with today's technology.

"Yin" and "Yang" are nice concepts but there must be some enzyme or hormone that can be measured to see whether we are in a balanced state. If it is there then biochemical technology should be able to measure it.

Localised vasoconstriction and vasodilation are so well documented. As of what causes them, even medical researchers are still scratching their heads over it.

Even a hickey given by an angmoh chick had recently killed a healthy adult male, go figure.

Sorry to burst your bubbles, Boss. We are an advanced civilisation but not that advanced.

Gullible and dumb Sinkies have been buying Snake Oil from PAP for 50 years, so it's not surprising that they are also buying ‘Snake Powder Capsule’ .

It is well documented so obviously it can be measured. Since it can be measured then the TCM proponents should have no problem proving that herbs that improve circulation to kidneys actually relax the blood vessels in the arteries of that region of the body.

How does acupuncture improve circulation? What is the mechanism?

If I make an educated guess, the stimulation from the needles would trigger the pain receptors to fire off, then triggering the hypothalamus and the pituitary glands to respond, in turn triggering the adrenal glands to work. That's for higher BP and faster circulation for you.

Likewise, direct stimulation on the nerves could result in localised vasoconstriction.

So TCM is streaks ahead of current technology. It is used to fix problems that modern technology cannot even fathom yet alone measure?

Sounds even more far fetched than the flat earth theories.

I have an open mind. I actually tried acupuncture. It did absolutely nothing for me. I tried it for pain management. I tried it to lower blood pressure. The practitioner was "reputable" according to all those I knew who believed in TCM.

A tingling sensation while being administered but that was it. My blood pressure did not drop and my back pain did not go away.

Don't put words in my mouth.
I only maintain that TCM herbs do possess the medicinal properties as described by our predecessors.

And I maintain that they don't because personal experience has not shown that they do and there are no scientific papers that prove beyond reasonable doubt that TCM has anything more than a placebo effect.

The same guy Ah Heng got? Teehee...

Your personal experience is insignificant compared to the generations who have tried it.

It's the placebo effect. It shows up in statistically significant studies too.

Unfortunately I have since discovered to my dismay that the average human mind is fragile and easily manipulated. It does not bode well for the future.

The highly educated a person is, the more fragile is their mind. Look at Singapore, what does it tell you about those elites? One word: Ball-less.

I thought he was back at work. Who said he is dead?

The group of accupunture practitioners who treated Heng, they aren't dead.

You clearly didn't get the right recommendation :p:p:p

I'm talking about the guy who treated me. He was 75 and that was 30 years ago.

You know why these so called elites use TCM? It's because they're trying to cover all possibilities. It also pleases the old folks.

If they turn it down they'll always be all those "what if" questions. If they get better TCM will be credited with playing a part in their recovery. If they die Western medicine can be blamed.
