5 women charged with affray for fighting near Paya Lebar MRT Station​

A video clip posted on Facebook shows the women tussling loudly with each other as others looked on.

The court heard that the incident involving the five Indonesians - Sriani, 46, Maesaroh, 35, Sulastri, 44, Nita Widia Rahayu, 34, and Siti Rukayah Kusni, 47 - took place on the afternoon of May 19, a Sunday, at 15 Paya Lebar Road.

According to a police statement, Siti, Sulastri and Nita had a previous dispute with Sriani.

Maesaroh purportedly joined in to side with Sriani, and a fight broke out between the two groups.

A three-minute video clip posted on Facebook shows the group of women shouting and wrangling with one another as onlookers watched.

According to charge sheets, Sriani exchanged blows with Sulastri and Siti, while Maesaroh fought with Nita.

Siti allegedly exchanged blows with Sulastri as well.

The police were alerted to the fight at about 2.55pm and arrested four of them that same day.

The fifth, Siti, was identified and arrested about a week later.

In court, the women stood apart from one another and listened to proceedings with grim faces.
