5 men arrested for rioting at Beo Crescent

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested five men, aged between 17 and 41, for their suspected involvement in a rioting case reported at Beo Crescent in Tiong Bahru.
A 26-year-old woman made a police report on Aug 7, alleging that her husband had been assaulted by a group of men.
Officers from the Tanglin Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested four of them at Beo Crescent within two hours of the report.
The fifth suspect was arrested in Bukit Batok the following day.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the five suspects had assaulted the victim after a dispute earlier in the evening.
Police Investigations against all five suspects are ongoing.
Those convicted of the offence of rioting may face a jail term of up to seven years and shall also be liable to caning.
