SURAT THANI – Police on Thursday arrested two suspects who sped away from a checkpoint and found a kilogramme of crystal methamphetamine, or ya ice, in their vehicle.

Police said they set up a regular checkpoint on Thursday morning at Surat Thani's Ban Na San district.

The suspects did not stop their car when they reached the checkpoint.

Police followed them for about two kilometres and were able to stop them by firing shots at the vehicle's tyres.

The suspects were identified as Eakkarak Reabukkaree, 32, and Saichol Realoh, 27.

Police found one kilogramme of ya ice in the car's boot.

The suspects told police that they bought the drugs from Bangkok to be resold to drug users in the southern province.
