Four Chinese women who rented a HDB flat and solicited clients to provide sexual services installed a hidden camera outside the door for real-time monitoring, but they were still caught by the police.
Before the end of the year, the Singapore Police Force, in conjunction with eight law enforcement agencies, mobilized more than 2,600 police officers to conduct more than 1,180 law enforcement operations across the island between November 16 and December 15. The above-mentioned sex worker was caught red-handed during one of the operations.
On December 5, Lianhe Zaobao reporters followed the police and witnessed the raids at two HDB blocks in Choa Chu Kang Street 52 and Bukit Batok Street 24. Four Chinese women aged between 36 and 46 were arrested for allegedly using telecommunications to provide or assist in providing sexual services in violation of the Women's Charter.
The anti-prostitution law enforcement operation was coordinated by Jurong Police Station. The brothel in the Chua Chu Kang HDB flats that was raided was an inconspicuous old unit. A pinhole camera was hidden in the shoe rack at the door, monitoring every move in front of the door. After the police raided the house, the two women who were ordered to sit on the sofa covered their faces and lowered their heads to avoid the camera of the photographer.

The three rooms in the unit were quite messy, with sexy pajamas, wet and dry wipes and condoms scattered around. There were also many daily necessities in the unit, indicating that two women rented the unit. They were believed to have sent provocative words through communication software to solicit prostitutes, and it was reported that they provided pornographic services at a price of 50 to 140 yuan per time.

The record book on the table in the living room also clearly recorded the time of prostitution and the relevant fees collected. According to the record in the record book, there was a 50-yuan sex transaction three hours before the raid.

The reporter then followed the police to a HDB flat at Bukit Batok Street 24, where two other women were arrested in a raid. A hidden camera was placed in the hole of the doorbell, and a TV in the living room played the surveillance footage.
In addition to the two rooms providing sexual services, there are many towels placed in the storage room within the unit, believed to be provided to clients for use.
When asked, a police spokesman said that illegal sex workers would use various methods to evade detection, including installing hidden cameras. The police will continue to remain vigilant and adjust their strategies to cope with the ever-changing tactics.
Regarding whether the owners and tenants of HDB flats are involved in prostitution activities, the police said the investigation is still ongoing.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Tan Jin Shui, commander of Jurong Police Division, said police will continue to work with other agencies to clamp down on illegal activities in the neighbourhood and offenders will be severely punished under the law.
