IN THE suicide note to his wife, father and close friends, Mr Teo Kok Hun, 33, confessed his addiction to football gambling.

The 33-year-old driver, also known as Zhang Guohan, admitted that this was the main reason why he was always short of money.

His favourite football team was Liverpool and he was wearing the club's red jersey when he hanged himself in the bathroom of his four-room flat in Tampines on Oct 26.

His 30-year-old wife, a travel agent, found his body at 7.30pm, when she returned home from work.

State Coroner Victor Yeo, on Tuesday, returned a verdict of suicide.

Strangely, Mr Teo's death came a day after Liverpool defeated archenemy Manchester United, after a series of four successful defeats to other teams.

What a waste. If only his passion was opposition politics and was wearing a red TBT Tshirt when he hanged himself, I would attend his funeral.

soon we will have more of such cases for casino gambling.

i heard there are already some "finance companies" going to set up their branch at the IRs.

wow that is real shit.

maybe the gov should provide some more hot line to help these addicts.

Darwinism at work.

He was just a useless prick and he will walk alone.
Died for Liverpool ?
Like Liverpool needed his death ?
How fucking stupid could he be ?
If only his cause was something more noble.

Fucking good riddance of bad rubbish.

SINGAPORE: He was such a die-hard fan of Liverpool Football Club that he wore the familiar bright red team jersey even in death.

The body of Teo Kok Hun, 33, was found hanging from a bathroom window by his wife on Oct 26, a day after the club had beat archrivals Manchester United.

Mr Teo, a driver, was clad in the football jersey with a pair of bermuda shorts. A suicide note was found on the living room table.

It was not clear why he took his life but in the note, Mr Teo apologised to his wife and parents and admitted to his gambling habit. Mr Teo was known to have also gambled on football.

On Tuesday, a coroner's inquiry heard that Mr Teo's wife, a travel agent, had returned from work at 7.30pm that day.

Noticing that the lights in the house were not switched on, she called Mr Teo's mobile phone which rang inside the house. Thinking her husband was playing hide and seek with her – which he sometimes did – Mrs Teo started a hunt for her husband.

She saw his figure in the shower of the master bedroom toilet and told him to come outside for dinner.

When he did not budge, she pushed the shower door and saw that Mr Teo was hanging by his neck from a window.

Mrs Teo immediately called her mother, then Mr Teo's sister, who called for an ambulance.

In her statement, Mrs Teo said she last saw her husband at 7 that morning, before she left for work. During the day, she spoke to him twice on the phone, and the couple made dinner arrangements.

Mrs Teo added that they had just bought the house in January, and as a result, they were tight on money. Mr Teo had also taken no-pay leave from his job to find another job.

Those who last spoke to Mr Teo detected no change in his mood.

In a statement, one of his close friends said the night before his death, he had called Mr Teo while both of them were watching the football match. When Liverpool scored, Mr Teo even teased his friend.

State Coroner Victor Yeo returned a verdict of suicide.

Anyone dumb enough to support Liverpool for that many number of years must be damn Hardcore. Which means he should have been betting on Liverpool against Man U. Why in the world of F he suddenly decided to bet on Man U to win!!!

This dumb Chink probably lost all faith in Liverpull in recent years and decided to be a traitor ie bet against it in a match with its archenemy the Red Kiddie Devils (ironically both were each other historically) and had apparently hoped to cash in on the few grand he must placed this time in a bid that did not really materialize in his desired favor but instead, contributed to the well-being and maintenance of the local betting agency and its full-time salaried employees as well as its charitable causes and chose to end it all before Christmas.

What a meanie!

Football matches are purely for entertainment ..can bet a small amount say $10 on one weekend matches but never bet big sum on it.

Personally I feel that it is very stupid to support the EPL football clubs & spend silly money buying their expensive club jerseys, subscribe SCV & buy expensive tickets to watch them in National Stadium when they come here for meaningless friendly match.

These ang-moh footballers can screw asian punters anytime they want. Their objective to make fast money in shortest possible time.
They won't whether their fans live or die

dun know if i shld tell you guys abt my observation 2 years ago. Anyway, dun get disappointed. I was at sgpools on a sat trying to catch live performance of soccer cum few bets. I saw group of pple gaterhing around a young chap,so i saw that nthis young chap was actually tracking the movement of odds for some games. He was right that the team whose odds dropped significantly turned out losing that game. So i also used his tactic tracking odds, and made soem beer money. I concluded that these games kelong ones. Then later, saw from papers that interpol stepped in and arrested bookie rings in Asia. I have already given up on soccer which I like a lot then. The only thing that interest me now is see how these so call pros rigged their games. I believe that they are still doing it but rather discrete,no one will know.
