There is no evidence or reliable witness that the kids were in a hurry. They could have been crossing the road careful, but the truck driver did not check left before turning.Yes you are correct, my point is, both are in the wrong..both are in a hurry...in that situation , do not think anyone could avoid an incident like that. he is rightly charge for a rash act...blame cannot be solely on him alone..to be fair..have you seen how reckless the kids ride their bikes these day?? I have many a times have to keep a look out for them...the deceased children were in a great hurry, period..two wrongs does not make one right..only one party dead.
The only facts are that the kids are killed at road junction by a truck that was turning left. And the junction happen to be in a school zone and residential area. It is also a fact that the truck driver did not even know that he has knocked down the kids as other cars had to honk at him before he stopped.
You can't based judgement on speculation.
