19-year youth arrested after body found in four-wheel drive
KUALA LUMPUR: Police nabbed a 19-year-old boy in-connection with the murder of a man, whose body was found inside the rear compartment of a four-wheel-drive vehicle. The suspect was nabbed in a cyber-cafe located in the area where 27-year-old Tan Ting Lin’s body was found on Thursday afternoon. The suspect, who is unemployed, was detained at about 1am Friday to facilitate police in their investigations.
The body of Tan was found hidden inside the rear compartment of a Toyota Hilux which was parked in an alley in Jalan Awam Jawa, Taman Yarl. During the incident on Thursday, nearby residents had to call the police as the vehicle was blocking traffic. Upon investigation, the police found a body in the rear section of the four-wheel drive, said city CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah.
There were stab wounds on the chest. No weapons were found at the scene. The unidentified man was the son of a electric shop owner whose shop was located in the area where the vehicle was found. Initial investigation revealed the victim was murdered somewhere else before his body was dumped in the four-wheel drive.
“Looking at the body condition, the victim is believed to have been dead 12 hours before he was found,” SAC Ku said when met at the scene. He added the car belonged to the victim's father. The body has been sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
