16-year-old arrested for snatch theft

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 16-year-old male suspect believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft in the vicinity of Jalan Jurong Kechil.
On April 23, 2013, at about 10.15pm, a 25-year-old woman reported that an unknown man had grabbed her pouch containing items amounting to about $300, around Jalan Jurong Kechil.
Officers from the Clementi Police Division responded promptly to the scene and through extensive ground enquiries, the officers managed to swiftly establish the identity of the suspect.
The youth was arrested in the vicinity of Jalan Jurong Kechil at about 11.40pm on the same day, within one and a half hours after the police report was made. He will be charged on April 25.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 7 years and caning.
