Singapore has reported a record-high 728 daily new Covid-19 cases on April 16.



In total, Singapore currently has 4,427 cases.

With the steep increase in Covid-19 cases, mostly coming from foreign workers' dormitories, the country is preparing more spaces to house patients who do not require hospital care to free up those resources.
Besides Singapore Expo, the government has also created community care facilities at army camps, vacant HDB car parks, and Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC).

Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean shared on Facebook several images of Changi Exhibition Centre being converted into a community care facility to house Covid-19 patients who are recovering from the disease or only show mild symptoms.
Photos show the 40,000m² indoor exhibition hall at CEC, an Airshow site, having been furnished with basic furniture.

I wouldn't call it a downfall because most of these bangla chaps are pretty young. The infection mortality rate amongst them will be extremely low.

If you take a look at the data from around the world you'll see that the case mortality rate for anyone below 50 was definitely no worse than a bad flu year. In fact the data I have looked at shows it to be less lethal than H1N1.

Taking into account the limited testing that has been done in most countries the infection mortality rate is probably way less than 0.05% for the under 50s.

Add to that the fact that Singapore's health care is up there with the best I would say that Singapore is doing a fantastic job.

What they should do is open up the country and the infection rate will spike and then start to fall within a couple of weeks.

I doubt very much if there is any way to eliminate this corona virus. We never succeeded that eliminating the others. Neither has a vaccine been developed.

IT is payback time, Sinkapore relied on cheap foreign workers to suppress the local worker's salary and boost up the GDP growth. Moreover, the owners of the dormitories just like blood suckers, taking full advantage of the foreign workers, provide them the pathetic living conditions and take away part of their hard earned money, whereas they live in the luxurious house like paradise. Someone has to go after them for their evil doing, 血债血还，天理难容，even they are ex minister or grass root leaders related to PAP government
