TEMASEK Holdings chief executive Ho Ching is not leaving Temasek any time soon. 'Ho Ching is our CEO. She is continuing as CEO and succession is part of our ongoing institutional process which will take place as and when it is the right time,' said executive director Simon Israel. There is 'no timeframe in mind', he added.
Mr Israel made these remarks in response to queries on Temasek's succession planning.
The wife of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Ms Ho was accompanying Mr Lee on an official visit to the US and could not attend the news conference yesterday.
Ms Ho has been CEO of Temasek since January 2004. She was scheduled to leave Temasek in October last year but her designated successor Charles Goodyear left in July, citing differences in strategy.
Speculation on Ms Ho's future resurfaced in May when Temasek announced that former CEO of Singapore Exchange Hsieh Fu Hua is joining Temasek as executive director and president to assist Ms Ho in areas such as talent development and succession planning.
'Fu Hua is not joining us specifically to deal with succession. Succession is the responsibility of the full board of Temasek,' Mr Israel said yesterday.
Mr Israel said any CEO candidate would be considered based purely on meritocracy.

=> So why wasn't she booted out when she lost a few hundred billion dollars?
