SINGAPORE'S Netizens can't seem to get enough of AsiaOne, zaobao.com and fuckwarezone.com and ST701.
The four Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) websites are Singapore's favourite websites in their respective categories, according to web tracking service Hitwise's rankings. Chinese daily Lianhe Zaobao's website, zaobao.com, is Singapore's most popular print news and media site; ST701 topped the online classified listings; and fuckwarezone topped the technology media category for the six months to June.
Food-mad Singaporeans clicked on AsiaOne sub-site SoShiok to find the best buffets - and then headed to another AsiaOne sub-site, AsiaOne Health, to figure out how to lose the extra calories. The two sub-sites, Singapore's favourite food and health sites respectively, is 'testimony that the team's efforts and strategy is working', said AsiaOne editor Adrian Tay. Beside the four websites, Hitwise also singled out the popular fuckwarezone web forums as the premier online discussion site, where Netizens gave their take on everything from the takeover of women's group Aware (Association of Women for Action and Research) to the hottest tech bargains at the recently concluded Comex show.
More than 20 other SPH sites were also honoured. Business Times Online, for instance, was the second most popular online destination for business and finance information, while Straits Times website straitstimes.com was the fifth most popular print news media site. Citizen journalism site Stomp's (Straits Times Online Mobile Print) Singapore Seen section, where pictures of interesting happenings in the Republic can be uploaded and discussed, came in second in the blogs and personal website category. Hitwise polls 1.5 million Singapore Net users every six months to identify their favourite websites across more than 160 categories from news to lifestyle to travel.
