10k and above monthly pay is quite common

A department head in a US multinational typically earned between 10 and 15k per month in the 80s. The MD would be on 18k plus benefits.

If you are an american expat working in Spore they will pay you for the hardship. Some of the perks are company paid homes & cars. Usually the high pay is reserved for FT from Europe, Australia,...

However if you are a local wage earner it is another story. These companies are in Spore to take advantage of the low cost & not to pay locals amercian wages.

you can't believe the stats, i am referring to uni graduates with years of experience, my friends in their 40's already, some in banks, some in engr. and are getting these kind of pay, my cousin was retrenched by dbs when he was stationed in HK. i believe there are many more.

The median takehome salary of sinkee is $1700. You are meeting with the upper middle class crowd.

Your group will not last long with that kind of pay. Once they reach 40, they will be replaced by cheaper Ah Neh or Pinoy.

10k per month is peanuts. I earn 1/10 peanuts per month.

Think $10k/mth put you at the 80% percentile. That means u are in the top 20% wage earners in Singapore.

come think of it, ya, no one make this kind of pay, except me cos' i am a driver now.:o

You would have earned $7k averagely if you haven't been surfing SBF that often. :oIo:

frankly 4k average for me, doing a single shift, didn't you notice i seldom post from later afternnoon time.:D

The salaries I quoted were rates for locals. The American expats earned USD and were living in Singapore on an expat package while their pay went into their bank accounts back home.

Many earn this amount in the civil service. Best of all, no need sweat blood d tears. Just chobolan and act busy.
Many leave files on their table machiam very busy. Actually, no more action to take.

I think you mean the department heads or team leaders at best. Anyone below that cannot reach $10,000, around $5,000 at best.

For clarification I was referring to the period around 1989. I was working for a US MNC & making less than $10k. My local colleagues were in the same boat. The ones making more than $10k were the expats.

If one was a local & getting a wage of $5k to $10k it was considered a good wage in those days.

Volunteer to work for PAP.
You get more than 10k for being their bow wow wow doggie

You can live well and eat well in the same way Lee Kuan Yew did in WW2
He could have chicken and pork and rice while other stupid singaporeans had to eat grass and tapioca

if that was true then all RC running dogs will be rich instead of being bunch of tiko peks wearing torn shirts who wag their tail each time a minister cum visit

10k is not "common" lah. Just read the mean and average income numbers by SingStat.

Obviously if you hang out with a certain crowd, then your perspective will be skewed.
