$1000 note very precious now

Starting today (Dec 1, 2017), some banks will not issue $1000 note for cash-withdrawal below $10000. If you need $1000 for cash-withdrawal, you need to fill up forms or answer some questions. The process will be a little longer as the counter staff will need their supervisors' approval.

In short, $1000-note's circulation will be reduced.

相信电视机前的观众都吃过牛肉面，价钱呢一般也都不超过20元。但在11月27号上午，有一位顾客竟然在结账时付了1000元！这是怎么一回事儿呢？

新余长沙特色小吃店老板娘钟女士告诉记者：“他吃一碗牛肉面吃完了他说付钱，他就准备拿钱给我，我正准备去找钱我就看他拿那么多，我就追出去给他。”

钟女士说，等他追出去的时候，这名顾客已经发动车子了

钟女士：“我要他留名字留联系方式，他不肯留他就走了，当时一开始我没点，我就要我老公追出去看车牌号，我点了下拿了一千块钱。”

钟女士说，她有个先天性失明的儿子，今年十岁了，也不太会说话，生活也不能自理，这名素不相识的顾客应该是看到了这一幕才献出了爱心，让她非常的感动，随即就发了朋友圈，希望能够找到这名好心的顾客。通过车牌号，记者想办法联系到了这名好心市民钟先生。当钟女士提出想当面感谢他的时候，被钟先生婉绝了

I think the only reason we can cite is CNY or wedding dowry ang pao. My bank front-desk friend said the SME towkays like John Tan, withdrew in stacks of $100 and $50 yesterday because the bank discouraged the $1000-note withdrawal, even for business-use.

The problem is outside the banking system because anyone depositing such a big note in cash will end up facing AML questions and may end up flagged by the reporting requirements.

The only place it is readily used is Casinoes but they end up being recycled internally. Many places wont even accept the note. If the value of a purchase is high, cash is no longer accept by wire transfers or cheques. Legal and Accounting firms under revised laws are now required like Banks to report purchases for houses etc is they are paid in cash.

No sir, it is a MAS measure for our banks as ECB/UK reduced the Euro-500 note circulation from direct bank-withdrawal. Canada also dropped their CAD-1000 note several years ago. Meanwhile, Switzerland's SFR-1000 note is likely to enjoy unrestricted withdrawal at this moment.

There are legitimate uses for large denomination notes

1) Some money changers will give better rates on larger notes e.g.Thai money changers do want the $1,000 notes
Not only do you get a better exchange rate, it is also easier to carry a few $1,000 notes.

2)When I am transferring $ from one bank to another another in Spore.
I sometimes need to transfer $ from one local bank to another. It is of course easier if there are larger notes.

They got rid of the $10,000 notes & are now controlling the $1,000. In expensive Spore I usually carry $100 notes in my wallet. The $1,000 nots are I think useful. There are some Japanese restaurants that charge $600/person. Yes you can use credit cards but sometimes there are problems with the cards so having cash as backup is necessary.
