Yes, that is a reasonable step to take. The idea is a good start for consideration but Pritam didn't deliver it proper and it distracted focus from the original issue. Pritam should not try to explain it away that it is not "illegal" and "has the permission" from author but just apologize for not citing the credits to the blogger. He doesn't even need to mention the blogger's name if the writer doesn't prefer so.

But as Sadist said here, it is pretty disgusting for WP members and supporters to defend Pritam's act so much so that it makes one wonder what kinds of First World Parliament are they offering to Singapore.

Finally a resonable post.

I suspected that it might be the assistants behind this. It has happened on a number of occasions and continues to occur in first world parliaments.

If that is the case, WP has to come out and explain this and move on. People would understand that no MP can do everything and there is allowance to recruit and pay for legislative asst for this very purpose.

I am sure just like the Denise incident, if PAP MPs had done that, we would be asking for an explanation.

I am also quite suprised that we people are not aware that when you lift whole paragraphs, with or without the original author's content, it must be attributed whether an academic exercise or otherwise.

On another note, if GMS wants to serve the needs of Singaporeans he should be badgering the PAP over the Denise/TPL incident and it occurred under his watch as he was secretary general. I consider that unfinished business.

Parliamentary privilege is to have immunity from prosecution of defamation, that's ok. But that doesn't mean that others could not comment on what they say in parliament. Didn't you read my posting properly before replying? Ling HD was the case I was referring to. Speaker Tan SK ordered him to be escorted out of Parliament in that sitting (note, not expelled from Parliament) and the parliamentary priviledge committe to investigate and censure him. That's all.

I am against PAP for its many policies which I don't agree in principle; though I agree some of their policies but in terms of the greater principles of Democracy, I am against their acts against Democracy and attempts to undermine Democratic development in Singapore.

I decided to take a break after the first GRC has been breached by WP, which is significant in terms of democratic development. However, the behaviours of various WP MPs, the indiscretion of YSL, poor adherence to the basic democratic principles of transparency, accountability and maintaining integrity are all too disappointing.

Yes, we need more opposition MPs in parliament but NO, we cannot tolerate womanizers, people who are intellectually dishonest, lack integrity, people who cannot get their numbers and principles right and people who just cannot think straight, talk straight...etc to be the representatives of the people, regardless of whether they are from the ruling party or opposition.

I have just watched the movie on Iron Lady. Margaret Thatcher said: "Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become...habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny! What we think we become. My father always said that, and I think I am fine." This come close to what Buddha has taught us.

If we choose to be silent (or worse, even defend them) on the various flaws of these opposition MPs then we shall become the accomplices of bringing down the democratic development of our nation.

The joker will do anything to be noticed. He goes around flaming people and it looks to me he is hoping to be sued by WP MPs, knowing that PAP controlled court will not award any decision in favour of WP. Obviously he is not worth a cent to WP who continues to ignore him.. then now he tries to get further attention by asking someone to let him sue.
