Return of the King... again: Former boss Dalglish set for ambassador role at Anfield

By ALEX MILLER PUBLISHED: 21:55 GMT, 20 April 2013 | UPDATED: 21:55 GMT, 20 April 2013

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish will make another emotional return to Anfield - in an ambassadorial role. Dalglish met the club's managing director, Ian Ayre, last week to discuss his return and to define his role.It has yet to be decided if he will return as an international ambassador or to the academy. But the former player and manager is ready to return and crucially the move has the backing of owners John Henry and Tom Werner, manager Brendan Rodgers as well as Ayre. Dalglish filled an ambassadorial position before being reappointed manager in the aftermath of Roy Hodgson's departure in January 2011.

Welcome back: Kenny Dalglish is set for an ambassadorial role at Liverpool

The Scot left last summer after an 18-month spell and opted for a clean break despite suggestions that a backroom role had been lined up. Dalglish attended last week's Hillsborough 24th anniversary, although he has only watched the team once since Rodgers has been in charge and that was as a guest of the Hillsborough Family Support Group. Liverpool are keen to see Dalglish become a familiar face on match days again. Apart from the affection of fans, Dalglish's presence will boost the club's commercial interests. Henry has always maintained there will be a role for the Kop hero. 'He is in many ways the heart and soul of the club. He personifies everything that is good about Liverpool FC,' said Henry last summer. 'He has always put the club and its supporters first. Kenny will always be a part of the family at Anfield.'

Malaga Boss Manuel Pellegrini To Reject Chelsea Approach

by Mark Brus April 24th, 2013

Pellegrini.jpg

Manuel Pellegrini is committed to Malaga and won’t accept an offer from Chelsea.

After rumours emerged yesterday that Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini had opened talks to become the next Chelsea manager, the Chilean has now said he is not interested in a change of clubs.

The former Villareal and Real Madrid boss is seen by Roman Abramovich as the ideal long-term replacement for interim manager Rafael Benitez, but the Russian owner may be forced to look elsewhere.

According to the Sun, Pellegrini is committed to continuing his fine work with Malaga, after a strong season in La Liga this year, as well as making the Champions League quarter-finals on the club’s first ever appearance in the competition.

His side were unfortunate to be knocked out in a close tie with Borussia Dortmund, and it may be that his opposite number that night, Jurgen Klopp, will be approached next by Chelsea, as Pellegrini made it clear he was not looking to move.

“I’m not looking to change club.” he insisted.

“My main objective is to finish my contract with Malaga and continue the work we have started.

“In the Champions League quarter-final against Dortmund I think we showed that Malaga was one of the top four teams in Europe.”

The 59-year-old understands that there is speculation surrounding his future, as financial problems at Malaga have led to some forced player sales and a general feeling of uncertainty around the club. Pellegrini himself was unhappy with the sales of key players Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal to Arsenal, and is likely to see another rising star Isco leave the club this summer as well.

He added: “I suppose there’s uncertainty about my future because nobody knows the next developments at this club yet.”

Chelsea have also been linked with former boss Jose Mourinho, who is widely tipped to be leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Man United Target Six In Summer Spending Spree: Ferguson Handed Upwards Of £50m to Invest In Old Trafford Squad

by The Newshound April 24th, 2013

Baines-Chelsea.jpg

Old Trafford side ready to do business this summer.

Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be handed a bumper transfer war-chest in excess of £50m as the Scot looks to improve his Old Trafford squad this summer according to the Daily Mirror.

Despite guiding his Man United side to a 20th domestic title Ferguson is apparently keen to bring in reinforcements and is looking to land a left-back, an additional striker and a long term replacement for Paul Scholes, who is set to announce his retirement from the game for a second time at the end of the current campaign.

Baines-West-Brom.jpg

Chief among his targets is apparently Everton full-back Leighton Baines, a player Ferguson wants to see act as a long term replacement for Patrice Evra. Man United will offer £15m for the England man and could well be confident of landing the former Wigan Athletic man, who knows that a high-profile move could further his ambition to displace Ashley Cole as Roy Hodgson’s first choice starter with the 2014 World Cup in Brazil on the horizon.

Rooney-Exit.jpg

Wayne Rooney is being strongly linked with a Man United exit and with PSG said to be readying a £25m bid for the 27 year old there is apparently scope for a striker signing and this source believes Ferguson has earmarked a move for either Borussia Dortmund ace Robert Lewandowski or Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao.

Both players have been in fine form for their respective clubs and a move for Polish international could be more likely given he has just over a year to run on his current contract and Falcao’s Vicente Calderon employers are looking for an astronomical fee for the Colombian goal machine.

Zaha-Man-Unied-Deal.jpg

Man United will see Wilfried Zaha move to the club this summer and will look to ship out Nani to make way for the Crystal Palace wide-man.

Ferdinand-Ferguson.jpg

Veteran centre-back Rio Ferdinand will be handed a new one year deal whilst Ferguson looks to replace another long serving member of his squad, midfielder Paul Scholes.

Reus-Goal.jpg

Ferguson has monitored a number of potential replacements for the 38 year old including German international Marco Reus, PSV Eindhoven youngster Kevin Strootman and Celtic’s Victor Wanyama.

Outgoing Man United chief executive has spoken of his club’s desire to make use of the summer transfer window stating;

”I’m sure all the clubs who missed out this season will be doing business – as we will be – with a view to come back all guns blazing.”

Manchester United win Premier League title

Apr 22, 2013 9:50:00 PM

274221hp2.jpg

Sir Alex Ferguson has clinched the 13th top-flight crown of his 27-year reign at Old Trafford, and takes the Red Devils' overall total to 20, two more than arch rivals Liverpool

Manchester United have won the Premier League title after securing a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

It is the club's 20th league crown, and Sir Alex Ferguson's 13th of his 27-year reign at the club.

The Red Devils moved 16 points clear of Manchester City, who have five games left and 15 points to play for, after Robin van Persie's first-half hat-trick secured a comfortable win over Paul Lambert's side.

The Dutchman, who has now moved one goal ahead of Liverpool's Luis Suarez in the race for the Premier League's Golden Boot, struck his first of the evening from close range after just two minutes, while a stunning volley from the edge of the area was followed by another effort inside the box.

Manchester City clinched their first Premier League crown on goal difference on the final day of last season, but Sir Alex's team came roaring back during the current campaign and have blown their title rivals out of the water.

They went top of the table following victory against Arsenal on November 3, and despite being temporarily overhauled by City midway through the month, they quickly reestablished top spot and have not looked back.

Robin van Persie's last-minute free kick provided a dramatic victory over City at the Etihad Stadium in December and a six-point gap to go with it, and their late comeback against Newcastle on Boxing Day sent an ominous message to those at Eastlands.

United ended 2012 seven points ahead of their nearest rivals, and the gap would only grow as the new year wore on.

After City drew away to Liverpool and lost at Southampton in early February, United went 12 points clear by beating Everton at Old Trafford, with Sir Alex electing to play a strong side despite preparing to face Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Scot admitted that the opportunity to open up such a large gap was too important to pass up, and although his side eventually exited Europe at the hands of los Blancos, they effectively put City out of sight by mid February.

And when City slumped to defeat at Everton on March 16, allowing United - in the midst of a six-game run without conceding a league goal - to move 15 points clear.

Sergio Aguero's superb goal at Old Trafford in a 2-1 City victory cut United's lead to 13, while Carlos Tevez secured victory over Wigan as United drew at West Ham a week later.

But City's defeat at Tottenham on Sunday presented the Red Devils with the chance to sew it up against Villa, and they made no mistake against Paul Lambert's side.

United had seven titles to their name when Sir Alex took over in 1986. The Scot won his first in 1992-93, and 20 years later he has guided his side to their 20th league crown.

In winning their latest trophy, United move two titles clear of Liverpool, who won their 18th and most recent in 1990.

After losing the title in the final minute of last season, United will go on trophy parade with one game to go this time

By CHRIS WHEELER PUBLISHED: 07:43 GMT, 24 April 2013 | UPDATED: 09:07 GMT, 24 April 2013

Manchester United have confirmed they will be holding an open-top bus parade to celebrate winning back the Premier League title. It will take place on Monday, May 13 – the day after United are handed the trophy following their final home game against Swansea – starting at Old Trafford and ending in the city centre. United will then play their final Premier League match away to West Bromwich on the following Sunday. The celebration will mark United’s record 20th league championship and it will particularly sweet because Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have seized the title back from neighbours Manchester City.

Another new sponsor?

Manchester United have announced a five-year partnership with Vietnamese bank BIDV. The new agreement will see BIDV offer the club's followers in Vietnam the bank’s first affinity credit card.

Twelve months ago, City paraded the trophy through the streets of Manchester after edging out United on goal difference on an unforgettable last day of the season to claim their first top-flight title in 44 years. Former United striker Carlos Tevez sparked controversy during the celebrations by holding up a placard with the message ‘RIP Fergie’, forcing City to apologise to their neighbours. Ferguson and his team proved that they are still a force to be reckoned with by clinching the title with victory at home to Aston Villa on Monday night, and could yet rack up a record number of points in the Premier League if they win their remaining four games. Despite concerns over their celebrations cutting across any plans City might have to celebrate if they win the FA Cup, it is understood that City have yet to hold official talks with the local council and are comfortable with United’s choice of date.

Manchester council deny reports City requested FA Cup parade to delay United title celebrations

Apr 24, 2013 12:00:00 PM

131581hp2.jpg

It had been suggested that the FA Cup finalists had planned an open-top tour of their own should they beat Wigan, which would have clashed with the Red Devils' plans

Manchester council have quashed reports that dethroned Premier League champions Manchester City had looked to scupper United’s title celebrations.

The Old Trafford outfit are due to be presented with the Premier League trophy on Sunday May 12, the day after City’s FA Cup final clash with Wigan.

Reports suggested City’s desire to hold their own parade, should they defeat the Latics, was set to cause a schedule conflict that would disrupt, even cancel, United’s own plans.

However, Manchester council have rejected those claims, and are adamant that City never even broached the subject of holding a parade that might clash with United’s event.

A statement on their website read: “We would also like to clarify that, contrary to the implication in some sections of the media today, Manchester City FC have never discussed or requested having a parade on Monday 13 May, or any other date, should they win the FA Cup and any suggestion about there being competition for that date is entirely unfounded.”

The Red Devils’ proposed open top parade will go ahead as planned on Monday May 13, the day after their final home game of the season against Swansea.

Gill: Only a small minority of Manchester United fans oppose Glazers

By Jack Johnson
Apr 24, 2013 12:23:00 AM

256988hp2.jpg

The owners have come in for criticism since taking control of the Red Devils in 2005, but the outgoing CEO says the club's on-field success is beginning to win round the fans

Manchester United chief executive David Gill insists only a small minority of the club's fans oppose the Glazer family.

Over the years many United fans have staged various protests against the Glazers, the most notable being the green-and-gold scarves worn by some in honour of the club’s original colours.

But with five league titles and a Champions League trophy to show for their time at the club, Gill believes the much-maligned Americans are beginning to win over the fans.

"It's the quality of the owners [that matters]," Gill told reporters.

"And I think [the Glazers] have definitely demonstrated that since they have taken over, they have shown that what happens on the pitch is crucial to the club's ambitions off it."

Many of the previous protests were down to the clubs huge debt, which stems from the loans the Glazers took out in order to finance their takeover.

But United have already begun to repay their debts, and still found the funds to sign Robin van Persie for £25 million last summer - a signing which has proved instrumental in their 20th title triumph.

Gill understands not every fan has been convinced by the Glazers, despite the team’s success, but he remains convinced such supporters are in the minority.

"There are still a small number of dissenters and they will always be there and they have had long held views which they are not going to change. We respect those," he added.

"Ultimately, someone has to own the club.

"But having said that, there will be a very small minority, MUST (the Manchester United Supporters' Trust), who will always retain their own views."

'I want to assure everyone that absolutely no offence was intended.' Cesar's wife Susana Werner posted the picture on her Instagram account but it was subsequently deleted. The club's head of communications Ian Taylor wrote: 'The club is aware of an image of Julio Cesar circulating on social networking feeds.

'The image, which appeared on an Instagram account, has since been deleted. The club will be dealing with this issue internally.' Other pictures from the bash surfaced too - including Gary Cahill in a not-very-fetching baby outfit. Youngster Nathan Ake turned up as Superman, while birthday boy Luiz and his good friend Ramires seemed to be dressed as Chelsea pensioners. Stalwart right-back Paulo Ferreira was Robin but Batman was nowhere to be seen - and Oscar turned up as Zorro - perhaps inspired by the mask that his colleague Fernando Torres has been wearing recently.

Suarez banned for 10 games for Ivanovic bite

By Alex Young
Apr 24, 2013 3:00:00 PM

274043hp2.jpg

The striker has until midday on April 26 to appeal the decision, with Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre expressing his "shock and disappointment" at the punishment

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been suspended for 10 games for violent conduct after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, the Football Association have confirmed.

The Uruguayan was captured by TV cameras biting into the defender's arm in the second half of the two sides' 2-2 draw at Anfield, before later going on to seal the injury-time equaliser.

Suarez accepted the charge on Tuesday, but rejected the FA's notion that a three-game ban should be deemed insufficient and has until midday on April 26 to appeal the decision - with Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre expressing his and the club's "shock and disappointment" at the ban.

The striker is currently set to miss Liverpool's four remaining Premier League games - including the visit of rivals Everton on May 5 - and the Reds' opening six games of the 2013-14 season.

The FA statement read: "Luis Suarez has been suspended for a total of 10 matches after an Independent Regulatory Commission today ruled on a charge of violent conduct.

"A three-person Independent Regulatory Commission today upheld The FA’s claim that a suspension of three matches was clearly insufficient and the player will serve a further seven first-team matches in addition to the standard three. The suspension begins with immediate effect."

This is the second time Suarez has been handed a lengthy ban during his 27-month stay at Anfield after being suspended for eight games after being found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra last season.

The Uruguayan also received a seven-game ban in November 2010 for biting PSV midfielder Otman Bakkal while at Ajax.

Arsenal supporters back United guard of honour but warn Van Persie to expect a hostile reception

By SAMI MOKBEL

Arsenal Independent Supporters’ Association chair Lois Langton feels the club should give champions Manchester United a guard of honour ahead of Sunday’s Emirates clash — but warned former favourite Robin van Persie will get a rough ride from the fans.‘We have to give the guard of honour, as I don’t want us to look as though we are being petty,’ said Langton.‘Having said that, the reality is he will get a hot reception. He alienated himself from supporters.’

Liverpool release statement regarding Suarez bite ban

Both managing director Ian Ayre and boss Brendan Rodgers again express frustration over the 10-game suspension but back the forward's decision not to appeal against it

Liverpool have released an official statement regarding Luis Suarez's decision not to appeal his 10-game ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.

Though remaining "disappointed" at the perceived extreme nature of the suspension, the club accept their forward's choice, which he explained in a personal statement on Twitter.

Managing director Ian Ayre wrote: "The charges against Luis were his to consider and we have to respect his decision to not appeal the 10-game ban.

"We are all disappointed at the severity of the punishment and in particular the differing standards that have been applied across various previous incidents.

"Luis is an important member of our team and nothing has changed in that regard.

"We are committed to helping him improve his conduct and he will be given our full support. We look forward to him returning to the team next season when he is available for selection."

Brendan Rodgers, who spoke out against the severity of the ban on Thursday, added: "We can't hide our disappointment at the outcome of this situation but we have to move on and support Luis in his decision.

"Luis has made a huge contribution to the squad this season and we respect his decision to accept the ban.

"He will be missed for the remainder of this season and the early part of next, but we will have the opportunity to welcome a better person and player when he returns."

Uruguay official slams 'English hypocrites' over Suarez ban

Apr 25, 2013 11:32:00 AM

274043hp2.jpg

The 26-year-old striker was hit with a 10-match ban after digging his teeth into Branislav Ivanovic's arm, and the Uruguay chief was quick to criticise English football

EXCLUSIVE

A Uruguayan official has criticised the English Football Association for "double morals" after they handed Liverpool forward Luis Suarez a 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic.

The incident occurred in the Reds' Premier League match with Chelsea on Sunday, but because the referee took no action against the South American at the time the FA was able able to act retrospectively and issue the suspension.

Fernando Sobral, a member of the Uruguayan FA, admitted the player was out of line but highlighted his swiftness to apologise, before accusing English football's governing body of being harsh of the striker.

“We know him [Suarez] and we know how he is, but that does not justify some actions," he told Goal.com Argentina. "Sometimes he makes mistakes, but then he recognises them.

“I can’t say if the suspension is right or not because I don’t know the FA rules. But I know that English are hypocrites and they have double morals since a long time ago, something that you [Argentines] know perfectly.

“Despite what he did it’s not correct, the fact of apologising is what he had to do”

Suarez issued an apology via the Liverpool official website soon after the clash, acknowledging his behaviour was "inexcusable" and saying sorry for letting the club down.

In a move that will strike fear into the rest of the Premier League, Ferguson's been given the go ahead to spend big this summer

By IAN LADYMAN PUBLISHED: 22:03 GMT, 26 April 2013 | UPDATED: 22:03 GMT, 26 April 2013

Long after the crowds had left Old Trafford in the wake of Manchester United’s victory over Aston Villa on Monday night, a conversation took place between Sir Alex Ferguson and club owners the Glazers that can only unnerve those with hopes of unseating the Barclays Premier League champions. ‘Having spoken with the Glazer family, I think there’s every intention we want to kick on now,’ said United’s manager Friday. Ferguson was talking not about football, but about money.

article-0-196F8B6D000005DC-468_634x677.jpg

Kicking on: Sir Alex Ferguson had a conversation with the Glazers, following the Premier League triumph at Aston Villa on Monday, where he was promised more funds to improve his squad

With a 20th league title already secured with four games of the season to spare, United have put last season’s disappointments behind them impressively. It is, however, the club’s multiplying might off the field that should perhaps worry the competition most of all. With the restrictions of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations soon to be felt across Europe, clubs who generate most of their own money — rather than those with wealthy owners — will have the least to worry about. Few, if any, would appear to be better positioned from that point of view than the new English champions.Asked if United’s commercial growth would enhance his ability to buy players, Ferguson said: ‘Yeah. Absolutely. I hope so. Yeah, it will.

Additions: Ferguson is looking to add two players to his already stellar squad

‘There’s no doubt that, worldwide, it (the commercial operation) seems to me to be getting bigger. It has been fantastic and that’s credit to the commercial people. They’ve done a great job and of course the football team has been the platform for that. But they’re capitalising on such a great profile of the club.‘We’re happy where we are at the moment, that’s for sure. We’ve attracted really good sponsors.

Inspired: The signing of Robin Van Persie has proved to be the difference maker for Manchester United

‘FFP has to come into effect but I don’t know how that’s going to work because there’s all ways round these things as everyone knows and I just hope they can control that.’Ferguson has long since expressed doubts about FFP and UEFA’s ability to police it. Whether he is right to be sceptical remains to be seen. It is clear that while rivals such as Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and — further down the food chain — Tottenham and Liverpool try to open new revenue streams to enhance their balance sheets, United, for all their millions of Glazer debt, remain at the front in this particular field.

The numbers involved in United’s headline deals are staggering. July, for example, sees the start of an eight-year training ground and training kit deal with AON that will see the club receive £160m.
The club’s current £303m, 13-year first-team strip deal with Nike could smash through the £1billion barrier when it is renegotiated in the coming months.Beneath the top layer are countless deals with anything from telecom firms to beer, paint and soft drinks manufacturers that keep United grinding onwards.Speaking about his plans for the summer transfer market, Ferguson said: ‘I don’t think we need to rebuild at all — possibly two players. It depends if a player came along that we felt met our criteria.

‘I think we’d push the boat out and get him, irrespective of how many players we had.’Across town at City, meanwhile, coach Roberto Mancini was pondering his own club’s future. It seems almost certain that the Italian will remain until next season, regardless of the outcome of next month’s FA Cup final against Wigan. But he knows his squad must be different in mind and body if they are to make up for the disappointments of this season’s Premier League and Champions League efforts.

Pondering: Across town, Roberto Mancini has been thinking about Manchester City's future

Mancini insists that a second-placed league finish would not be the worst thing in the world if it has an FA Cup tacked on. Nevertheless, he has clear ideas of what needs to happen at the Etihad Stadium this summer.‘We have time,’ said Mancini. ‘But not a lot of time. We should have our transfer targets in mind. You should move very quickly. We didn’t do this last year. We moved so slowly.‘We lost the players that were our targets to improve our team. Like you saw in the last week at Bayern Munich, they’ve bought two or three players already.

article-0-196B79E1000005DC-493_634x426.jpg

What next? Mancini is planning to make changes to his failing squad

‘I’ve read that Barca need six players. Barca! So, yes, we need to add to our team.’The first lap of Ferguson’s victory parade begins at Arsenal tomorrow where his champions will receive a guard of honour from the home team. Already, however, his mind is on next season. Interestingly, he thinks a familiar foe will be back to worry him.‘I think Chelsea will be involved in the title next year,’ he said. ‘Chelsea have got some good players and if Jose Mourinho goes there that will help. You read the newspapers and he does seem to be going back there.’

'I want the traditions of English football to be respected' - Wenger confirms guard of honour for Manchester United

By Tom McKeown

After the Red Devils won their 20th Premier League title on Monday, the Gunners will give Sir Alex Ferguson's men the customary entrance amid the return of Robin van Persie

Arsene Wenger has confirmed his Arsenal side will give Premier League champions Manchester United a guard of honour when they host the Red Devils on Sunday.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side captured their 20th league title on Monday with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa and travel to face a Gunners side desperate for points in their battle for a Champions League place.

Striker Robin van Persie returns to the Emirates Stadium for the first time since his £24 million [€29m] move to Old Trafford which some have suggested will make the guard of honour harder to take for the players and fans, but Wenger insists they will give the champions the respect they deserve.

"I want the traditions of English football to be respected," the Frenchman told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

"My relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson is respectful."

After Monday's victory Van Persie said he had to wait a long time for his first Premier League title and it was a "great feeling", but Wenger believes the striker will always remember his time in north London fondly.

"I think Arsenal had a positive impact on the life and career of Robin van Persie," he added. "You will always miss a big player but now we are stabilised.

The two sides clash at on Sunday with the Gunners currently sitting in third place in the league table.

The Sweeper: Tottenham held Osvaldo talks

Apr 27, 2013 7:29:00 AM

254518hp2.jpg

Spurs sat down with the Argentina-born Italy striker regarding a summer transfer, while Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis urged rivals clubs not to take legal action over FFP

TOTTENHAM HELD OSVALDO TALKS

Pablo Osvaldo is likely to be sold by Roma this summer if they receive an offer that matches their €15 million asking price.

One possible destination is Tottenham, who are in the market for a new striker.

The Sweeper can reveal that a Spurs representative had a meeting with Osvaldo when he was in London earlier in April while suspended from Serie A action.

The Italy international has had a solid season, scoring 12 goals in 25 league games, but he is believed to be ready to move on from the capital.

Roma will sanction the 27-year-old’s exit from the Stadio Olimpico if they receive an offer that is similar to the sum they paid for the Argentina-born hitman in 2011, when he was signed from Espanyol in a deal worth up to €17.5m.

Meeting Osvaldo’s salary expectations should not be an insurmountable problem for Spurs if they decide to press ahead with an offer.

The striker currently earns €72,000-a-week at Roma, a sum that will rise to €86,000-a-week in the final year of his contract, which runs until 2016.

GAZIDIS WARNS PREMIER LEAGUE CLUBS AGAINST LEGAL CHALLENGE

Six top-flight clubs failed to vote in favour of the new financial fair play regulations that were formally adopted by the Premier League earlier in April.

This has prompted speculation that the decision could be challenged in the courts by a breakaway group led by Manchester City.

But Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis, whose club was one of the most vocal backers for the wage restraints and a cap on losses, has made private calls for the elite to be united.

Speaking at a recent Premier League meeting, he said there was much that the League did which was subject to legal challenge, but he hoped that “all 20 clubs would act as partners” on FFP and that there “would be no legal threats from any club”.
