Whatever transpired the fact remains that 70% think that this is no big deal and will continue to support the ruling elite.

And with the PAP government in control of all state institutions it will be business as usual for LHL and his team even if public support does take a plunge one day.

You have to look no further to our northern neighbors to see an example of how a major scandal had no effect whatsoever on Najib and his cronies. They are still firmly in power.

The email you quote was written when I was Associate Editor of Straits Times, not Chief of Government Communications. And as you know well, I had met Mr Lee Kuan Yew with a few other journalists to discuss a book that he had proposed on 38 Oxley Rd.

When he met us in July 2011, he made plain that he wanted the house to be demolished. But as the months and years passed, the nature of the project changed as it became less definitive whether the house would be demolished – and if so, when.

I ceased to be involved in the Oxley Rd book project in July 2012, when I left ST. My personal view remains that Mr Lee’s wish to demolish 38 Oxley Rd should be granted the moment you are no longer living in it, which may be 20, 30 or more years in the future.

In the meantime, I am as baffled as most Singaporeans why Hsien Yang and you wish to consume all of us in your personal family matters.

Janadas has dug himself a bigger hole. He has re-affirmed that as of July 2011, LKY had wanted the house demolished. In other words, LHL lied in his SD.

Whether LKY vacillated to and fro later on is immaterial to this egregious breach of the law:

The important thing here is the Old Man has been consistent with his view. And timing is interesting - 2011 and after he met the cabinet. Whether Janadas Devan was a broomstick, associate editor or Head of Govt Comms at the time is immaterial. His email content is telling.

All this has nothing to do with whether I am a doctor a salesman a garang guni man, whether I have a big or small dick or a huge or small breasts or big or small nose.

That I agree with, in the short term.

But, in the longer term, it will be a catalyst for the start of an internal fissure (if it's not already happening) within the party as well as the Lee crony network both in public service and in business. And then a long slow decline amidst a power struggle will ensue.

A modicum of intellect is expected more of a doctor than, say, a garang guni man. In that respect, it does matter. Note that I'm not even touching on the issue of integrity.

This saga must go to the very end for this country and its people to move forward.

Your point about the grandson is something that his generation and his cousins who went west are realising. I think they also realise that it is more important that being smart allows them to achieve things on merit and society recognises you for that.

The interesting thing about this fella even took a financial journalism internship with The Economist during his PPE degree, the very magazine that had to apologise to his uncle and pay 127k pounds for allegations of nepotism in Singapore under his grandfather and uncle. His views are quite liberal but he is a trained economist so I would assume he is fiscally conservative. A pity he would not be back in Singapore by the looks of it, but I agree with him that Singapore is better off without all these 2nd/3rd gen political royalty.

in order to bring down papigs, it must be due to internal power play/grab. A good reference will be the KMT. KMT a party, under the military might of the 党軍 who in turn controlled by a dictator who also transferred the mandate to his son after his death. wonder who are papig version of 李登輝 and 宋楚瑜.
