Yah Pekin restaurant is great, probably the leading restaurant chain in JB. JB traffic jams are actually quite ok, compared to SG expressways! haha.........

Today is Toto day mah...... haha. New World Garden is not bad too. Got own swimming clubhouse, and super near to Giant and Tesco. I also quite like Straits View Residence (with its own clubhouse), though its surroundings is not as convenient as Ponderosa and New World Gardens.

    Property News

Yah, Ponderosa Woods is not bad. Viewed this project together with New World Gardens before..... But absolute price is rather high, esp if you have SG property commitments........ haha

haha, I think mpan12 talks big only lah, no money 1, and probably has an unstable job too, as a SG property agent. But sadly, only in Asia will we have this conversation about income levels, job types.... Try telling an Aussie blue collar worker that his job sucks, and see what the response...

Wow, what makes you think Frodo will be a beggar in SG? Maybe he earns more than you, or his job is more stable than yours! Property agent jobs are far from stable now. haha

Err.......not talking about yourself? "But just for the record, yup, my job is stable, it pays me well, I don't have to worry the cost of living here in SG is too high and so I need to move over to Johor. But I'm not arrogant about it. Johor is good in its own right. But SG has many strengths too."

    Economic News

Actually I dont quite get it. Why do you keep talking about yourself? Frodo's point is that there will be a certain %, albeit small, maybe 5% of Singaporeans, who will move over to JB when connectivity has improved. I think there's certainly no doubt that this will happen, if and when ("big if"...

List of things in Johor which are much cheaper than in Singapore.

Used to be cheaper in SG, but is no longer now, following the removal of tariffs in favour of 6% GST. Maybe some vehicle spare parts are still cheaper (only slightly) in SG compared to JB, due to volume.

List of things in Johor which are much cheaper than in Singapore.

Some imported fruits could be cheaper in SG than JB, esp as big supermarkets like NTUC have the purchasing volume.

Yes for retirees, it's a great deal, esp if you have existing SG properties that can be "monetized". Not so comfortable for working people though, given the unpredictable jams....

List of things in Johor which are much cheaper than in Singapore.

The cheapest stuff in comparison with SG are: petrol, house, and car. Food in general is around 30% cheaper only, though I note that mooncakes are significantly cheaper in JB.

For a single track system, Tebrau shuttle departs from JB to SG at 530, 6, 630, 7, 830. Arguably, you can still slot 730 and 8. Half an hour turnaround is about right. Not sure if 15 mins turnaround is possible though, given the single track.

    HSR and RTS Discussion

I thought it's a single track system? So hard to cope with the huge demand during peak working periods. Not sure if it's upgradable to double track too, given the tight space constraints, and limited supporting infrastructure at Woodlands. As compared to RTS, which will be directly linked to...

    JB/SG Crimewatch

It sounds like a really dumb thing to do, even in Singapore. Leaving your car unattended, engine running and with kid inside. On another note, I saw a no. of smashed car windows on the streets of Paris, and even in a busy shopping centre in Perth. That's just the way it is in major cities...

    Economic News

SG economy is in bad shape lah. 1-2% growth, despite the continuous population growth? I believe productivity growth is near zero or even negative. Oil and gas, retail, local property, logistics all in bad shape. Companies profits are down from previous years. Year-end bonuses and wage...

I think SG economy would qualify better for 'flat or tank' at 1-2% growth rate. MY is still growing strongly at > 4% despite its many troubles.

Actually the johor growth rate is way higher than Singapore's 1-2%, easily in excess of 5% but the anti-Johor brigade wont listen 1 lah......

Instead of anti Malaysians, I think there are some in this forum, who are quite obviously Malaysians, and they have the mistaken view that by talking down on Malaysian properties, they can finally get their dream properties on the cheap. Without realising that it's not Singaporeans who are...

    Senibong Cove

Dont think it's a big issue. All these are set to be relocated (together with the prisons) under the "Woodlands - Northern Gateway" plan.
