China companies recruiting Singapore FTs??

Looks like there are some China companies who are also looking to recruit Singapore FTs. The flow of FT influx works both ways. In Singapore, bosses feel that they need more China FTs due to them being 'cheaper, better, faster'.

In China, apparently they think that their own locals cannot make it and are using high salary + attractive benefits to lure Singaporeans!!!

I wonder if I should apply just for fun? Sounds like a great remuneration package and may be a good idea to experience working overseas as an FT for a change.. where I might actually be appreciated more than over here??

The Chinese are very smart...they recruit to "learn" from you. Once they have finished leeching, you get cast away, sometimes before contract's up.

depending on the employer. If MNC, its a plum job. If its local PRC company....red flags.

RMB$11K is only about SGD$2K. Depending on where U are, places like Shanghai and Beijing is not that cheap.

Just sharing some experience with you on China. If you landed in either Shen Zhen or Shanghai, you better ask for higher pay than Sg. The cost of living in these 2 places especially Shen Zhen is very expensive.

In the past, Hong Kongers move north during the weekends to China to shop, now it is the other way round. As soon as they step into China, Hong Kongers lose 30% of their values (SGD1 = RMB4.80 = HKD6). I went Shen Zhen for business trip and found the things there not worth buying, surprisingly, I found Hong Kong very affordable (except for hotel stay).

I don't find HK cheaper than SG. Even if the SG vs HKD is much favorable. Only xcept Chinese books.

for a degree holder? Let me share with you one of my colleague who came here while his GF worked in China, same qualification. His starting pay was SGD2,600 while his GF was about SGD2,200. But within 4 years, his GF is at par with him because there are ample opportunity to jump around in China. His ay on the other hand was stagnant with only 8% increment after 4 years.

When such news broke again, I am not surprised at all. End of the day, I still believe Singaporeans are sought after for our hardwork and talent. what i heard is a bit different. S'poreans are too straight and are not street smart. Then of cse, not many can understand / use Chinese well enough.

yes we are hardworking (working like cows) due to the edu system which is good for executing.

PRC companies here (in SG) recruit Sinkies for English and their "link" to west. PRC companies in PRC hire because of skills transfer. Suck you dry...you are casted away.

So we shld be smart too...go there network.

Most importantly, my friends miss the local food like laksa and fish head curry so much that some flew back to sg during their long week end just to eat their favourite food.

depending on the industry as well. If you are in sexy industry like finance and IT, you would have flew. But if in manufacturing / HR...probably not.

for sure, you cannot hope to stay in PRC for long. Fucking ironic isn't it. Our government keep telling us to assist in assimilating the FTs whereas everywhere else, the FTs have to do assimilation. And if you cannot assimilate, you fuck off.

Only here, they ask us to cut your foot to fit the shoe.

13k won't get you anywhere in China nowadays in first tier cities esp SZ and SH which are farking expensive. You might do a little better in 2nd tier cities but these places don't offer much opportunities

The good thing about the china market now is that there are a lot of job opportunities. People tend to jump around and increment of more than 50% is quite common. Yearly salary increment is also in double digit.

China has a large labour force but not many has the specialised skills and international exposures. However, companies are going towards localisation and are employing fewer foreigners (unlike Singapore!). Expat pay packages are not so common now and companies are offering either local or local plus packages. The tax rate is very high there (more than 20%) and deducted from your salary every month. Now I heard foreigners also need to pay social security (something like our CPF)
My SZ colleagues told me that even Hongkees are not coming to SZ for work now as the pay is just not worth it

China companies don't esp like Singaporeans as they considered Singaporeans too straight, not street smart, don't understand local market conditions/regulations and don't speak Chinese well. However they still like to place Singaporeans, Malaysians and Hongkees in depts where money is concerned such as the credit and finance dept as they don't trust their own people with money

I came back after almost 4 years. Yes I do miss some things in Singapore but how things have changes in just 4 years. I can blend in like a local Chinese in China and people thought I'm from GZ. In Singapore, I feel like a foreigner now.

In China if you are willing to blend in and mix with the locals, they will treat you like equals. I have made a lot of good PRCs friends there and have fond memories of living in a courtyard full of retired communists comrades whom were so kind to me. In Singapore, its the opposite as we are supposed to blend in with the FTs who arelaughing at us.

Looking at the current local scene and how things will head for the worst after listening to what LKY just said, I'm heading back to China.

PRC fresh u grad from mid tier PRC U earns between rmb5k to 10k if they know some english. Some higher than rmb10K per month with some experience.

Need at least sgd10K with housing (rmb4 to 5K), telecom allowance, 2 to 3 round trips, repatriation expenses, inducement. All in, ave about sgd16K per month including cpf etc.

Also, who is paying for your income taxes?

Now with 40% social security cost for expat in china, cost of employing expat increased.

The ad in hwz is bit off, rmb3k plus u grad belongs to the lower tier schools.
