In assessing applications for citizenship, permanent residence (PR) or immigration facilities, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority adopts a holistic, calibrated approach, which includes interviewing the applicant and sponsor, where necessary.

Each PR application is evaluated on its own merits based on a set of criteria, including the individual's economic contribution, qualifications, age, family profile and ability to integrate well into Singapore society

Marriage to a Singapore citizen does not automatically qualify a foreigner for long-term stay, PR status or citizenship. Each application for long-term stay is similarly assessed on its own merits.

Among other things, the ability of the sponsor to financially support his or her foreign spouse, the marriage duration and good conduct records of both applicant and sponsor are important considerations.

Such a system, without tangibles, as other first world countries abide by, result in a strong demand for corruption within the process.

Since there is no proper guidelines and since there are hundreds of ICA officers, each officer has a different reading on an application when no black and white guideline is provided. This makes each ICA officer highly susceptible to being bribed by syndicates to allow unwarranted applicants from being successful while disallowing others who may have been more eligible.

Yes, it does, bearing in mind that, that are four official race in Singapore.

The authorities are issuing PRs so easily... Just like giving out candies... I have seen male Indian PRs bringing their whole family to Spore, the old dad, their saree clad mom and wife, their kids and even their younger siblings.. Now tell me what economic contribution will their old dad and mom contribute to this country other than babysitting their grandchildren at home and taking afternoon strolls at the playgrounds.. Same goes with the PRCs and the Pinoys.. Ability to integrate well into Spore society..??? What a joke.. These PRs would not integrate with locals.. They would just congregate among their own community and the bloody Govt even spent millions of Public money to help these PRs integrate more easily with us.. Expect more influx of these foreigners in the comin future..

Not sure about that.. My ex colleague tried applying for a PR for his young Indonesian wife who was a Muslim..It was rejected on the spot by the ICA officer in charge.. Another friend of mine married a Thai woman from Chiangmai who is a Buddhist.. His wife PR's application too was rejected by the authorities..

Precisely. These shitskins are taking over our playgrounds, badminton courts by making so much noise that they are scaring off everybody. Since they come with the whole village, how can that be called replacement? They cant even feed themselves!
