It's not a matter of Singapore wants or don't want. PRC girls would rather be whores than maids, ditto Thai girls. You can find Thai male construction workers, but never Thai maids.

there used to be thai maids (back then there were only Pino, thais and indos, later came the indians, sri lankans then burmese) but not anymore coz overall thais standard of living have increased and now makes no sense for them to come work as maid when they can earn same or more working back home. the maid industry died a natural death.

look around here aren't much thai male construction workers either. most of them are formen or supervisors. most would go to middle east or taiwan for the better pay. others changed industries to marine or simply go to australia to pick fruits.

Thai workers are the most hard working bunch around. of course there are those who choose to work as whores overseas but even that is being threaten by PRCs in every market.
