Did you hear the latest news abt a SG towkay whose company is in jeopardy because of his casino losses?

to put things in perspective....stories of pple loosing their careers, fortunes and even family and loved ones were plentiful even before the 2 casinos started operation...
horse racings have been around for many decades....
in fact nowadays you have so many more races to punt than before.
cruise ships casinos (with easy access) have been around at least for more than 20 years....
The 2 casinos simply generates more publicity to such sob stories....

What you said is true.

But this latest news I heard is because he indulged in the IR casinos and not because of horse racing nor cruise ship nor overseas casinos. It was a direct effect of the IRs

Singaporeans losing their businesses, families, girl friends, happiness, etc because of overseas casinos or gambling is sad. such things cant be avoided because they took the trouble to do what they did.

but it is more painful when we facilitated their fall with our own casinos

hahaha..this is superficial and simplistic view...
I do not believe he started gambling only after the 2 IRs started operations...
In this case it just happened that he lost the money (assume what you heard is true) at the IRs.....and not a direct effect of the IRs...
In other words, he simply hit bad patch at the IRs...and he could have hit such a bad patch at any other casinos....

Those that are the real victims are those started picking up the habits when the IRs started operation.....and unfortunately there are many of them out there...
