With the effect from Nov 1 2010, the reason is high demand in parking, season parking tickets have difficulty finding carpark spaces

Up charges to solve problem, quite disgusting hor? why cant they build more carpark?:confused:

Hehe...they raise GST to help the poor. What u think leh?

A week of two ago, there was a survey report that Singapore is one of the cheapest car parking rates in the region.

You think the MIWs will forego an opportunity to collect money from peasants ?

Night parking is just a catalyst for all other parking rates to be raised relative to each other.

Very soon, as a resultof 'transport cost' increase, all other cost will be raised.

Actually, in Singapore we really do not need super-talented MIWs to run the country. Any lay-person, after rising 1 or 2 items' costs, will get enough experience and do just as well as the million-dollar ministers.

Exactly

First they release a report parking is cheap in Singapore to justify their ensuing action to increase the price!

How many car parks are over-utilised and under-utilised? Are there some official figures?

KNN,,,,, poor planning, poor co-ordination,,,,,,,, poor government la,,, vote them out please,,,,,,,,

will increase in nite parking space reduce less car, make more car park space available? CCB

increase in car parking charges = increase in revenue without lifting a finger to do anything by government = increase productivity = put back the 4.5b into the reserves faster = increase minister salary

Increase GST to help the poor.
Increase ERP and parking charges to help the car-owners.

Who else need help ? Please do a survey that shows Singapore is the worst off or cheaperest and publish it in the States' Times.

Guaranteed MIWs will resolve it expeditiously...........by penalising your wallets, or cash-card via ERP gadget.

Comprain somemore ??????

Death penalty to drug traffickers to help drug addicts.

Higher ministerial salaries to help fight corruption.

Lower labour salaries to help competition.

More foreign talents to help create jobs.

...

Your first example is not illogical, although I agree the other 3 are.
Death penalty or not may be debatable, perhaps they should look at the quantity of drugs, the track record of the offender, his links to others, the circumstances he was caught, etc etc,
But the logic that drug trafficking causes a lot of deaths among drug addicts and the people they may harm to get drugs or money is reasonable.

It's a contentious issue with arguments from both sides. Malaysia and Thailand also have death penalty for drug traffickers.

It is a million dollor solution. Otherwise how to justify being paid so much.

Problem creation by over- projecting more COE in 2008 and 2009. More cars not enough car park space. Increase car park charges.

One-off adjustments for over-projections in Quota Years 2008 and 2009, as well as expired COEs from 2009. These adjustments will be spread over the remaining 22 bidding months in 2010 and 2011. An adjustment of -7,981 is factored into the 2010 quota and -9,577 adjustments will be adjusted in 2011.

http://www.lta.gov.sg/images/VQS_Annex.pdf

It is not easy for such over-projections over 2 years period without knowing it.

One stone 2 birds :-

1. COE Quota over-projection (2008 & 2009) => more cars. Not enough car park space.
2. COE Quota decrease (2010 & 2011) => COE value increasse => collect money more from COE.
3. Refer to 1, not enough car park space => increase car park charge => collect more money from car park space.
4. Collect more money, can pay million dollar salary.

Well, planned.

Hehehe, those fellows who complain so much about MRT being overcrowded, they better watch their mouths.

Wait kenna gahment "fiscal policy" - the transport authority may raise the MRT fare to "manage" - overcrowding. Peak hours raise fare - to encourage more people to take buses and taxis. Or to walk, jog or ride bicycle to work - good rationale - save money and good for their health.

If they drive their cars, leads to congestion on the road, then good reasons to build more ERP gantry or raise ERP and road tax.

Issue of not sufficient night parking raised long long ago. Long time HDB residents like us live and let live - we just parked our car farther away but still within our carpark group - just need to walk a little.

But now people buy expensive cars and expensive HDB flats. They think living in expensive HDB flat is like living in condominiums. They also think election is near - can armtwist the gahment for some "goodies" or perks. So gahment must seen to have taken actions.

Bottom line is : Sometimes its good to let sleeping dogs alone.

for a moment I mistook you for a Rocket Scientist and I fully concur with your findings... ever thought of publishing a journal on it?

CB Kia(s)! where's the rest of the 66% when they want proof to switch side!
