When walking along the Potong Pasir neighbourhood, you may come across Rise, a bakery cafe with a bright storefront that stands out due to its pretty pink hues.

Rise opened in 2022, selling cakes, bakes, waffles, gelato and beverages. Soon after it first opened its doors, it quickly shot to popularity online due to its Instagram-worthy food, interior and unique offerings.

I paid a visit to Rise on a weekday afternoon and was pretty thankful that the cafe was not too busy. With baked goods ranging from pastries like croissants to sliced cakes and circular cakes, I was spoilt for choice!

No matter how atas, no volume at hdb. Will be at better in a shop with air-conditioning for $8. Will soon close. Just watch.

3 Recent Reasons Why Malaysians ‘Hate’ Singapore

Why 3? Don’t know. Singaporeans seem to like that number every time the Malaysia vs Singapore argument comes up.

The 9th of August is celebrated by our neighbours Singapore as their National Day of Independence after separating from Malaysia in what’s interpreted as a “difficult union” back in 1965. This faithful event, more or less, became the precursor to the love-hate relationship between our two nations for decades to come.

Setting aside the intricate complexities of international relationships, TRP takes a look at recent events and happenings across the causeway which has unfortunately turned Malaysians red with rage or green with envy (depending on your personal standpoints) towards our southern sovereign counterpart.

1. Ongoing Food Wars

In 2020, The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially listed Singapore’s hawker culture on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and labelled it as the best place to find Chinese, Malay, Indian and other hawker food.

Adding more fuel to the fire, today, Google’s official Doodle artwork to commemorate Singapore’s National Day was illustrated to include Nasi Lemak, Roti Prata Canai and chilli crab – dishes long been fought over by our two nations for the right to #doneclaim.

2. Singapore Vs Malaysia: Parliament edition

A recent comparison done between the calm and collective boring atmosphere during a seating of the Singapore Parliament was juxtaposed with the chaos and calamity passion of just your average day of Malaysia’s Parliamentary meet.

The video speaks for itself, so if you haven’t seen it yet here you go:

3. Better ‘new normal’

As of 9 August 2021, Singapore’s Health Ministry recorded only 72 new cases of Covid-19 infections. The country had also recorded a decrease in infections among the community from over 800 cases a week to just over 100 within a month.

Reportedly, over the past month, only 95 Covid-19 patients in the country had required ICU treatment or died.

Singapore had also as of August distributed over 8.04 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and had completely vaccinated close to 70% of its entire population.

The country recently transitioned from a ‘zero Covid’ policy to a ‘living with Covid’ model, where it moves to declare the pandemic as endemic and will be reopening its economy by loosening health standard operating procedures (SOP) and rules for people who have been fully vaccinated and recovered from Covid-19 – allowing for social gatherings, events and entertainment venues to open as well as group dine-ins from 10 August

Buyers undeterred by Aurelle of Tampines EC launch price

This could also bode well for upcoming executive condominium projects.

The remaining units in Aurelle of Tampines EC were snapped up by buyers despite setting a new benchmark launch price for executive condominiums (ECs) at over $1,700 psf on average, PropNex said.

This renders the 760-unit EC project fully sold since the project’s initial launch in March. During its initial launch, the project sold 682 units, reflecting 90% of its inventory.

Ismail Gafoor, CEO of PropNex Realty, said that given that the 30% second-timer buyer quota at the initial launch weekend was quickly met, the robust take-up at the second-timers’ sales booking was expected.

Aurelle of Tampines is the first EC project to be completely sold out during its second-timer booking since Copen Grand’s second-timer booking in November 2022.

PropNex believes that Aurelle of Tampines EC performed well due to the dwindling inventory of unsold ECs, along with its positive locational attributes.

Aurelle of Tampines’ performance also bodes well for the upcoming EC project, Otto Place at Plantation Close, due to the limited unsold new EC units in the market.

According to sales data from the PropNex sales team, there are fewer than 70 unsold EC units left on the market after accounting for today’s second-timer booking for Aurelle of Tampines.

Mark Yip, CEO of Huttons Asia, said that Aurelle of Tampines stands out as the second EC to be next to a fully integrated mixed-use development. This offers residents unparalleled convenience at a very attractive price.

It also shows that there is a very strong pool of upgrading demand in Tampines.

Huttons Asia said that an estimated 77% of buyers chose the deferred payment scheme. This is slightly higher than the estimated 70% during the initial launch in March 2025.

Delusional disorder

Delusional disorder, traditionally synonymous with paranoia, is a mental illness in which a person has delusions, but with no accompanying prominent hallucinations, thought disorder, mood disorder, or significant flattening of affect.[7][8] Delusions are a specific symptom of psychosis. [SINGAPORE] The local food and beverage (F&B) scene has become increasingly overweight as store openings outpace closures, pointing to a need for regulatory controls in the market.

“The high volume of F&B businesses is starting to do more harm than good for operators, diners and the entire food business landscape,” noted a Knight Frank report released on Monday (Apr 14).

It added: “In a small market like Singapore, the limited pie to share among all F&B businesses will make it harder for operators to remain profitable, given the current demand levels.” re’s F&B sector at risk of oversupply as openings outpace closures
