The Chinese woman had a problem with her marriage, so she left home and rented a house to engage in sex trade, earning more than $40,000 half a year. She also rented one of the rooms to another Chinese prostitute, asking her to provide sexual services in the room, receiving customers six to 12 times a week on average.

The Chinese defendant Zheng Xiaoyin (46 years old) faced four charges of prostitution and allowing others to engage in prostitution in the workplace in the National Court on Friday (March 28). She admitted to two of the charges, and the other two were taken into consideration by the judge when sentencing.

Due to marital problems, the defendant moved out of her original address at the end of 2023. She moved into the unit involved in April 2024, with a monthly rent of $3,700.


Between April and October 2024, the defendant posted sexual service advertisements on two websites with three different profiles and provided sexual services in a rented house. She charged $140 for sexual services each time and provided masturbation and massage services for $80 each time.

The defendant was arrested on suspicion of illegal sex trafficking in February 2024 and received a 12-month conditional warning. However, she ignored the warning and continued to engage in prostitution activities.

In addition, the defendant rented a room in the unit to a 37-year-old Chinese woman at a price of $200 per day, allowing the other party to engage in sexual transactions in the room.


The Chinese woman came to Singapore in July 2024 and worked as a waitress at a bar in Lavender. She turned to prostitution to earn extra income as she needed to raise money to pay for her wedding.

The woman met the defendant through an intermediary and rented houses from him between September and October for a total of 2,400 yuan.

During this period, the woman provided sexual services to clients in the room about three to four days a week and received two to three clients every day. Therefore, this unit had become a habitual place for sexual transactions used by the defendant and the woman.

The case was adjourned to April 3 for sentencing.
