Silent Depression in Singapore

Our Govt is not playing the role of facilitator by introducing a variety of schemes to help local businesses tap opportunities for expansion. The PAP does not recognise that SMEs have a significant role to play in the economy. Where are the Govt schemes, tax incentives and grants to help businesses overcome challenges in 4 crucial areas: building business capabilities, expansion overseas, financing and developing their workforce?

shhhhhhhhhh, order from pap, cannot say aloud.......FUCK PAP
Realising the complex growth environment facing local enterprises as our economy enters a new phase, the Govt must collaborate with trade associations and chambers of commerce. Such initiatives will include assigning mentors to help small firms navigate through the muddy waters of restructuring. The official shift in approach to focus on innovation in every industry while preserving a level-playing field of support for all small businesses will help to get SMEs up to speed. However, our govt has not done enough.

Enterprise Singapore, told our SMEs to move to Batam or JB. They only want big companies in Singapore

While we cannot depart totally from wooing MNCs to our shores, we must face the reality that our high costs makes S'pore a less inviting option for many foreign firms. There needs to be a viable alternative – with local companies at its core to give us a competitive advantage in the global market.

They are playing role too well coz facilitator means only open door and dont do anything else .... exactly their preferred MO.

A lot of schemes are LPPL ones which require you to spend money first just to enjoy the benefit. whats the point when the SMEs are trying to make money first as a priority. These schemes are set up to help the "consultants/agents" to get businesses rather than outright help to the SMEs. the training schemes also help the training businesess only.

Ask anyone that have business dealings with TLCs and they will also tell you that the TLCs always bully the SMEs into providing very cheap goods/services while the TLCs themselves charge out very high sales. They only earn for themselves. SMEs are left to fight amongst themselves

Whether SMEs are profitable or not, is secondary. When you spend first, or create revenue, there is GST.

Eg. You conduct a million-dollar local business without profits as a vendor, but you help create $90K GST receipts.

All those expensive condos...how they're going to pay for it?

Looks like Superman-fly-out-of-windows season will begin soon.

Record number of SMEs projected to fold in first quarter of 2025, including sole-proprietorships.
They have our strong N Tee U See fake labour union support, they have enjoyed our pro-employer opened door policies, they have the priviledges of depressing shitizens wages even after getting the labour "reskilled, upskilled". If all these conditions still cannot help SMEs survived, they DESERVED TO BE FUCKED AND CLOSED DOWN and have all the bosses BLACKLISTED from returning to business again. Furthermore, have their faces disclose and put to shame.

MNCs are fickle and flighty. They also have the ability to up stakes and relocate anywhere in the world at the drop of a hat. The moment there's a better market or a better cost environment they are gone within a year.

It's a huge mistake to disown homegrown business no matter how small it is because it is the core of your economy whether or not they go global or stay local. Having an MNC is a huge bonus, but it is just that. A bonus. Not a fixed income.

Since 3G took over, no guesses for who keeps chasing the big numbers from overseas and disregarding own sinkies and their businesses. This is why life in singapore in 202X is getting harder for locals and will continue it's downward trend. All the big numbers look great on paper and the gahmen can claim credit and financial muscle, but the numbers and benefits only partially filter to sinkie population. What does come reach sinkies is 100% of the cost inflation.

So it's no surprise that everyone will live in smaller cubicles, have longer commutes and working hours than they did before. Sure the numbers look bigger than before, but your quality of life is declining continuously.

Let's not forget jobs for direct employees, jobs for subcons and suppliers.

Whiter than white will close 1 or 2 eyes when they see the amount of money coming in from those ultra rich foreigners.
