SINGAPORE — A 23-year-old man has been charged after allegedly attacking an older man with a pen knife at a convenience store in Tampines and robbing him of about S$240 worth of possessions.
On Tuesday (Jan 11), Mohamad Azim was charged with one count of armed robbery with hurt.
Azim allegedly committed the robbery at the Blue Dot Minimart located along Tampines Street 71 on Sunday afternoon. He is said to have slashed the left knuckle of a 78-year-old man, Mr Ang Teng Kok, with a penknife.
He is suspected of robbing Mr Ang of about S$243 worth of possessions. They were:
On Monday night, the police said in a press release that after they were alerted to the robbery on Sunday, Azim was arrested along with a 50-year-old man, who was not named.
Police officers from the Bedok Police Division were able to nab the two men after establishing their identities through ground enquiries and with the aid of police cameras

- A brown wallet
- Mr Ang’s identity card
- Mr Ang’s senior citizen’s travel concession card valued at about S$20
- An automated teller machine card
- S$23 in cash
- A Huawei mobile phone valued at around S$200
On Monday night, the police said in a press release that after they were alerted to the robbery on Sunday, Azim was arrested along with a 50-year-old man, who was not named.
