The problem with individual graphs is that it does not look at the complete picture.

If I use the same data from ourworldindata.org it looks like the same.

However when it is viewed relative to other countries you'll see that India is actually doing very well in comparison. This shows that human mitigation does absolutely nothing to stop the spread. It may slow it down temporarily but the overall course of the spread does not change.
