Social media was abuzz today (15 Dec) with news of ex-Mediacorp actor Joshua Ang announcing his divorce on Facebook, saying, “This calls for a cake!”

Today, ex-wife Shannon Low has shared her side of the story, revealing disturbing accounts of the perils she allegedly suffered during the marriage.

Joshua Ang announces divorce & calls it “good news”
According to 8World News, Joshua Ang started his announcement with a famous quote from Oscar Wilde, “Divorces are made in heaven”.

Asking fans not to sympathise with him, he said it was “good news” and reportedly even wanted to celebrate with champagne and cake.
He also uploaded a photo with his ex-wife’s face pixelated, and the caption “Happy Divorce” edited over it.
The reason behind the divorce was not stated. But 8World News reports that he has removed all photos of his missus and related posts from social media. All that’s left are photos of himself and his son.
His Instagram account has also been set to private.
Shannon Low reveals disturbing details of marriage
In stark contrast with Ang’s account, ex-wife Shannon Low has divulged concerning details regarding their 2-year marriage.

She uploaded a series of Instagram stories from around 7pm, starting with one of her and their son Jed.

As long as we’re both living better, nothing else matters. All I want for you is to be safe and have peace growing up.

Alleging that her ex-husband had been “abusive”, she decided that Jed had suffered enough and would do everything to protect him.
Neighbours allegedly ill-treated too

Joshua Ang was best known as an actor in hit local movies ‘I Not Stupid’ and ‘I Not Stupid 2’.
He tied the knot with his then-girlfriend Shannon Low in 2018. The couple welcomed a baby son, whom they named Jedaiah Leonhart, the same year.

It was just two days ago that former actor Joshua Ang made the announcement about his divorce on his social media channels. The news caught many by surprise, including local director Jack Neo who worked with him on the I Not Stupid films and the latest The Diam Diam Era.

Joshua didn't disclose the reason for the divorce but just last night (Dec 15), his estranged wife Shannon Low shared her side of the story on Instagram. In a series of Instagram Stories, Low claimed that Joshua was an "abusive, violent and irresponsible father" who is lying and victimising himself to the media.

Joshua and Low married in 2018 and had their son, Jed, in the same year.

Joshua, 31, has told AsiaOne the allegations against him are "false and baseless" and he will be seeking legal counsel. He also said the root of the divorce was "financial issues".

On her Instagram, Low said that the final straw for her was when "fatty hit my jaw while I was carrying Jeddy" and that she's only spilling the beans because Joshua wanted to "start spilling your juicy news". Low also claimed that she kicked him out of the house.

She shared comments from netizens who had allegedly observed abusive behaviour from Joshua in public and said that they were true.

One of the comments read: "Maybe it's good news for the wife. I ever witnessed once how bad he treated his wife and son while eating claypot frog legs at Geylang. The table is just beside mine. Very bad temper shouting at the wife and scolding her vulgars [sic] in public, ignoring the son crying and the wife still kept silent.
