If there was no license fee involved, the streets would be flooded with thousands of tissue sellers and this could cause all sorts of problems.

The government therefore has to charge a nominal fee to ensure that only those with a genuine need are allowed to sell tissues.

Not only thousands of vendors selling tissue papers, but also all sorts of other stuffs like food, drinks, cigarettes, flowers, condoms, porn, newspapers and magazines, cheap clothes, fake designer goods, & etc.. making the streets of Singapore look like the streets of Bangkok or Jakarta.

Singapore is a world class 1st world city and the government must not allow it to look like Jakarta where unlicensed street vendors are everywhere.

Not sure if the info from the above link contradicts your statement.

One of the two visually impaired gentlemen told me he has to fork out about $120 plus ( plus GST, I presume) and I BELIEVE him.

He said he is taking bus 88 from pasir ris to toa payoh and I said at least he gets to travel free on public transport.

He then said no.. bus rides are free but for MRT ride he has to pay and is not free..

It leaves me wonder why...is"nt it the same company or is it the SMRT does not want these visually handicap person to crowd the train..???

The words from these two gentlemen trying to find their way around , I believe are more truthful than others who sit in the ivory tower.
