No one in the underground biz keeps these notes. Very troublesome. Bookies and 4D bosses will have lots of 1k in their safe at home. My friend keeps at least 500k at home for Mondays. His 3 other partners too. No bank withdrawals for obvious reasons.

for the recording of serial numbers. I read of that before but i read again it isn't true. There isn't any confirmation on it. Do you have some link to show they record down serial for 10k?

It is not difficult to obtain but if you know someone in the bank ask first before going. If you have no one in the bank then just go and ask for it if they do not have then ask them to ask which of their branch has.

Can confirm in the past it easier to get over the counter but after the casino opened noticed it's more difficult and even if have over the counter likely only one or tow pieces. Bur cannot confirm if its because of the casino or not.

Note that the bank will take down your NRIC number into a book and the serial number of the $10k note. Ask them why they will tell you it is for security purpose and it will be submitted to MAS too.

Yes Loeloe8 is correct to say $10k note is more difficult to change overseas but $1k note is highly welcome.

Let's say you need to bring a large sum maybe 1 million sgd out of singapore without the authorities noticing so can they change all their 1k notes into 10k up to 1million sgd so that it is easier to carry on their person and to avoid detection? I mean will the bank change for you or maybe money changer?

Yes can understand why if they do such a practice because they just need to make sure nobody smuggles huge sums of money out of singapore. Ppl were talking on blogs and sites about the sgd 10k being the most valuable banknote in the world and how someone could smuggle millions out of singapore but then would this person have enough 10k notes to make it up to a large sum at least in the hundreds of thousands. I don't think so. He would have a couple of 10k notes if he could get them and the rest would be in 1k, 100 and 50 notes.

Jah it is very true. Believe me, I confirm. Just happened to me in February, never fail to record my IC number against the serial number into a book, all banks and their branches do the same.

Hahahahaha this I sure believe. I've also know a few people who always keep one piece (folded) in the wallet or handbag for good luck instead of “poh-sin-hu" ask them why they will say "lui-kia-kwa" (money afraid of cold).
