I used to visit the stall very often since I was a kid..sad to learn that the 2 brothers is dying and paralyse.

Stall 17 . Satay mee hoon. bro can translate to england ?

what the headlines said ?

some months back was told their

stall already sub lease to another

with "coffee money" of around $300k.

heard the fat bro had a fall bat home

and was paralyse but did not

hear the story on the skinny one.

where to find best satay mee hoon now ?

redhill market satay mee hoon also not bad! beside Safra.

Sorry to hear that, but I ate there once and really the satay beehoon is nothing to crow about. The Perpectual Q is created by the slow motion of the 2 brothers. Take some beehoon, put some back, take 4 piece of pork put 1 back, take 3 prawn and put 1 back. stupid waste of time by them. pui pui pui.

I agree with you. Same observation and I never patronise them ever again.

I always felt satay bee hoon is one of the most over rated and over priced hawker fare. Look at the ingredients, just a few pieces of pork, a couple of miserable shrimps (not prawn), a few tentacles and eng chai and the minimum hawkers charge S$4.00.

Famous Meng Kee Satay Beehoon stall at East Coast Park Lagoon Food Centre closes after 30 years of business there. The owners, who are two brothers, were unable to continue the business due to ill health.

Mr Ng Hiok Meng, 60, was paralysed from a fall, while older brother Mr Ng Siaw Meng, 63, has stomach cancer.

Shin Min Daily News visited the older Mr Ng on Thursday, and discovered the reasons for the stall's closure.

Mr Ng said that he had to choice but to close the stall as both he and his brother met with mishaps just months apart.

"My younger brother had a fall last May which paralysed his lower body, and was hospitalised for eight months. After being discharged, he stayed at home to recuperate," he told the Chinese daily.

With the help of his family, he was able to continue working at the stall. However, six months after his brother's accident, Mr Ng was diagnosed with stomach cancer.

He had a persistent fever and went to the hospital for a check-up, and discovered he had fourth-stage cancer.

After closing his stall, Mr Ng had been going for treatments. However last Wednesday, he had a high fever and was admitted to hospital, and was only discharged on Thursday.

To the many customers who would miss their satay beehoon, Mr Ng said he felt apologetic for being unable to continue selling the dish due to ill health. He thanked customers for their many years of support.

That is why there is a queue and that is why people have the idea that the food is good. This is strategy. The Beef kwaytiao nearby is the same. The guy will pick each individual beef, arrange them like floral arrangement, boil it and rearrange it again... all the while with people queing outside. If you are really unlucky, as it happened once when it came my turn, he will change the soup...

Who cares about Satay Bee Hoon. They closed down the vintage McDonald's restaurant in East Coast Park. You can't get worse than that.

And if you don't take apprentices or disciples, your craft is going to be lost.

Can they not try to seLL their receipes' for $1 miL, Like what that sio bak staLL attempted some months ago ?..
:eek::)

I guess these people learn this "Marketing Strategy" from Hard Rock Cafe.
Long queue outside but half the cafe is empty.
