For me, hands down is Laurentia Tan. She has cerebal palsy and just won the London paralypics bronze in dressage. Born in singapore but left when she was young for better medical treatment in the UK. Than stayed there, but at least the Singapore RDA invited her to compete for them. To me, this lady represents the true heart of a singaporean. When u look at the adversity that she had to overcome, including deafness and injuries from many falls, and to see where she is today, that is amazing. To think that SOC only gave her $25K for the bronze, but gave that PRC mercenary bitch Feng $250K makes me sick to my stomach. This lady should be the one that is glorified and not Feng. U can see where the PAP misguided priority is. I don't think there will be any ministers of entourage waiting for her when she flies to singapore.
SHe is a shining example to all singaporeans that you can do better with the cards that you are dealt with in life, and you can achieve some real purpose. Just like her, many singaporeans were born into PAP serfdom. we did not elect them, we when we were born, they were already there, handicapping our personal development and hindering our ability to soar like an eagle. We have to take heart from laurentia. Just like her albatross is cerebal palsy, our albatross is the PAP and FAmilee. If she can over come her cerebal palsy, we can also overcome the PAP.
SINGAPORE: Singapore has won its first medal at the Paralympic Games in London following Equestrian rider Laurentia Tan's third place finish in the dressage competition.
Tan won the bronze medal for her performance in the Individual Championship Test Grade 1A event.
33-year-old Tan suffers from cerebral palsy.
She scored 73.650 points to finish behind Sophie Christiansen of Great Britain and Helen Kearney of Ireland.
Tan also won a bronze in the same event at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics.
Monique Heah, Team Manager, Equestrian: "The competition standard is higher and much tougher compared to the last Paralympic Games, but both horse and rider performed very well to clinch the bronze medal."
Laurentia Tan: "I had a smooth ride and it all went well. I'm happy that I got the medal as the competition standard is higher and harder this time. I'm really happy and it hasn't quite sunk in yet. I have worked hard and I am grateful to the team and all the members for all the help and support provided."
