Will take some time but basically, this result spells disaster for PAP. i.e. The ground sentiments of the middle ground is so angry with PAP that they don't really give a hoot to who stands against them!

Goh Meng Seng

Please, MR Goh. We await your analysis.

You are absolutely right. In the same way, as long as the PAP has a 2/3 majority, I will even vote for you if you are the only opposition candidate standing against them in my ward.

the hunting lioness usually selects the weakest prey in a herd and finishes them off.

I am with you on this. This 2/3 majority is a very big thing to give them. They can change in the constitution democratic to communist if they want to and bye bye to elections. The only reason not to do it is that they want to look good internationally. Instead they introduce GRC again with the 2/3 majority and make elections practically irrelevant.

The bulk of forummers here are non-PAP and became "WP insects" because we predicted a WP win. He gave the worst prediction ever in the history of Singapore - a 50-50 result with an unprecedented amount of spoiled votes. Even the crappy, inaccurate Eugene Tan did better.

I attended the first and last rally of the WP and also was with the crowd at Blk 322 HG ave 5 on counting nite. I spoke to strangers young and old, of all races..The ground is absolutely angry with the PAP. The thing about this BE is that it had assumed the tenor of a GE albeit for Hg voters only. It is indeed a referendum on 1 year post GE PAP. The people are still not satisfied. There are at least an issue or two for everyone and that's what makes it special. The PAP screwed up big time - by opening up grievances on so many fronts. Png won easily as a trustee of LTK's goodwill and brand name in HG. He deserves credit for coming up to nearly what Yaw got, notwithstanding the fact that he's a newcomer to HG cf. to Yaw. Someone said even if WP had put a monkey in HG, he'll still win. I buy that. That shows what a fedup and angry electorate can do. The PAP is in for a hard time, and a long climb back to its glorious perch of 1963 when it swept into power with an overwhelming majority. They have only themselves to blame. They will stand to continue to do poorly at any more BEs they call.

That is one way of looking at it. Another way to look at it is that the pap is so hated that anyone is preferred to the pap.

Either way, the end of the pap is at hand

Despite the ground being very sour against the PAP, WP support in Hougang had fallen to a historical low since GE 2006. This cannot be taken lightly. Notwithstanding the deep resentment especially with the train problem and even some aspect of the local-foreigner tension we can see from the recent Ma Chi incident, PAP still managed to trim WP support by a hefty 3%. And we are not talking about just any other ward, we are talking about Hougang, the centrepiece fortress of WP. I have not read today ST but its headline should be screaming a big victory for the PAP.

Is that all the shit you can come up with? Thought you would have more SHIT than this one to discredit WP? What do you mean by the middle ground? The fact is WP won the HG BE.

You have to allow him some discount. His vision is often clouded by a personal baggage he carries with WP. You must, however, give him credit that this post-election comment is, at least, honest. And that at only a small shift in sentiments, whichever direction you look at it. I was, in fact, very surprised by what he had said.

Bro if u r PAP, what should PAP do henceforth to return to being the PAP of 1959 and 1963 - a people's party that enjoy the people's support?

Or is the patient terminal and should only be transferred to hospice to await his inevitable demise?

Welcome back bro!

I believe that Singaporeans will still want the PAP to remain as the government, and I dont see despite all the shit people are throwing at them, that the people are ready to see a change of govt. Be that as it may, the PAP must do the following:

1. Be clear, transparent and accountable in parliament and in policies
2. Stop misusing the PA and govt agencies for partisan politics
3. Respect the Opposition's role and learn to adapt to realpolitik and treat them as peers, not demons - Opp is in. One party governance is out.
4. Stop squatting on the MSM.
5. stop squatting on the labour movement and shitting on workers.

for a start.

hahaha...why u only invited the canon god to make his analysis....
this is going to make the cockeral felt slighted......
actually papee is kuku.....thy never consult the cockeral beforehand....
according to him, the RO has a lot of power.....
He is highly influential when it comes to making other decision such as acceptance of nomination papers, validity of vote marking, donations etc.
just a NO from the RO, the BE would have been a walk-over for papee........lol.
