The New InterContinental Shimao Shanghai Wonderland

China's love for towering skyscrapers just got turned upside down. Construction is underway to build a luxury resort delving 100 meters underground
on the side of an abandoned quarry at the foot of Tianmashan Mountain.

Surrounded by a theme park, the hotel will have three levels above ground and 16 underground. The 380-room resort will also offer guests spa services,
a sports facility and an underwater restaurant. Located 30 miles outside of Shanghai, industry analysts expect room rates to start at around $320 per night.

Developed by Shanghai Shimao Property Group and designed by U.K. based engineering firm Atkins, the hotel is expected to open in 2014 or 2015.

How come Singapore cannot have this type of idea, eh?

IMAGINATION, this is what we sinkies are missing!

Should give more opportunity for our home grown architects to exercise their imagination! Yet our own government was
denying Singaporean architectural firms from designing our new Airport Terminal till viral online protests!!!

If this construction were built in Singapore when heavy rain it will turn into big pond.
China really dare to make a different. How many soil need to be dig??

What you get is a duo-use facility ... hotel during the dry season, and fishing during ponding! That's IMAGINATION!

Good ideas. Duo purpose use. During dry season can have direct sunlight. During heavy rain can use as reservoir to collect water and become under water tourist and fishing pond.
Maybe this is the way to solve drinking water and flood problem in Singapore.
Now already have the ideas. Must tell PAP to do it.

what is the use of using an idea which is developed BY OTHERS.

If your sinkie low life govt is of any good, then come up with an idea themselves.
 
As long as can solve flood and drinking water problem. Who care ideas come from where.
Eg. Hydro dam no one care whose ideas? But almost all country build it to solve water/electricity and flood problem.
