Woman jailed for forgery

<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A WOMAN was jailed for 66 months on Monday for forging company cheques totalling almost $967,000. Christine Jow See Ai, 46, was the administration manager of SMP Electrical when she committed the offences. She pleaded guilty last month to 20 of 353 charges of forgery by fraudulently appending the signatures of two signatories on the cheques for cheating the United Overseas Bank. The offences were committed between January 2004 and July 2007. The court heard that Jow began dipping her hands into the company's funds after she became addicted to jackpot machine gambling in 2004. Jow, now a housewife, used the money to pay off her credit card bills and friends whom she owed money to. She could have been jailed for up to seven years and fined on each of the 20 charges.
