IN THE first case of its kind, a woman was charged in a district court on Friday with allowing her father to have sex with her. The 22-year-old technical executive is alleged to have committed incest willingly in the master bedroom of a flat in Serangoon in April 2008. Her 46-year-old father was supposed to have been charged but he failed to show up. District Judge John Ng issued a warrant for his arrest and ordered the bailor to show cause as to why the bail should not be forfeited. The young woman, who is represented by Mr S. S. Dhillon, was accompanied by a relative and three women friends. Her police bail has been extended. If convicted, she faces a jail term of up to five years. A pre-trial conference has been set for April 12.

A YOUNG woman accused of incest was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on Tuesday. The 23-year-old technical executive is believed to be the first woman to have been charged with allowing her 46-year-old father to have sex with her willingly in the master bedroom of their flat in Serangoon at about 11.30pm in April 2008.

The father, a freelance plumber, was to have been charged that day as well but did not show up. The court has issued a warrant for his arrest. He is still at large and police investigations are still on-going. The woman's lawyer, Mr SS Dhillon, told Community Court judge Ng Peng Hong that his representations had been successful.

Deputy Public Prosecutor David Chong applied for the order. No reason was given in court. Under the law, any woman 16 years and above who 'with consent, permits her grandfather, father, brother, half-brother, son or grandson (whether such relationship is or is not traced through lawful wedlock)' to have sex with her is guilty of incest. The maximum penalty for the offence is up to five years' jail.

SINGAPORE: A woman who was accused of having consensual sex with her own father has been given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal in a district court Tuesday.

No reasons were given for the discharge.

The 23-year-old management trainee is the first woman to be charged with incest in Singapore.

The slim bespectacled woman who was represented by lawyer S.S. Dhillon looked calm throughout the hearing.

She was alleged to have had sex with her father, who's a plumber, in a flat at around 11.30pm in April 2008.

The father was supposed to have been charged in March but he failed to turn up in court.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Channel NewsAsia understands that the 46-year-old man is still at large and investigations are ongoing.

The two parties cannot be named due to a court order.

If convicted of incest, the woman could have been jailed up to five years.
