SINGAPORE: The Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) has said it is disappointed with national water agency PUB over the Orchard Road flood on Sunday.

Its executive director, Steven Goh, said the incident on Sunday felt like a repeat of the floods last June.:*:

"It's kind of like an anniversary for us. It happened last year on June 16, almost (around) the same time," Mr Goh said.

"This has caused a big concern because... we suspect the problem's been transferred from the downstream of Orchard Road to the upstream of Orchard Road where Tanglin Mall and Forum are located".

Mr Goh said measures taken in the aftermath of last June's flooding, which include raising the roads there, also do not seem to have worked.

"The flood alarm system is not working," he said.

"I mean, the stakeholders have not been informed of this flood and at least, there must be some form of communication to alert stakeholders that such a flood was coming.

With worse storms expected over the next few weeks, Mr Goh said the association will be meeting PUB with affected parties on Thursday to discuss what can be done to stop further flooding along the shopping strip, which he says is "the pride of Singapore".

The Civil Servants (high ranking ones) and the Ministers justifies their world highest salaries by claiming that they have world class performance and they are the best of the best.
Looking at this and several other many examples, and as they have self admitted, they made mistakes. That's fine, people needs to learn from their mistakes. And that means they don't deserve their high salaries after all.

Aiyah, people caught off guard mah. Also, they did not expect the flood to happen one year later - they had forecast that the next flood will happen in 50 years time.

ORBA’s executive director Steven Goh described the latest flood as a sort of ‘deja vu’ for the businesses there:
“It’s kind of like an anniversary for us. It happened last year on June 16, almost (around) the same time. This has caused a big concern because… we suspect the problem’s been transferred from the downstream of Orchard Road to the upstream of Orchard Road where Tanglin Mall and Forum are located”.
let tourism board start a orchard flood festival “乌节路淹水节” during june together with GSS. let those angmo shop around on a boat like Venice in the middle of flooded orchard rd with some free gift floating around.

anyway, although there is almost a yr since last yr. but by Chinese Calender, it miss by a day! last year Orchard road was flooded on 端午节, this year was one day before 端午节!!! i think 屈原must be crying in the heaven on how our gov and pap 卖国 like last time his 楚国, by implementing all the wrong policies that lead to 亡国!:oIo:

Vivian Balakrishnan: who the fuck does Steven Goh think he is? ISD, dig up any dirt in him and his extended family. IRAS, I want you to go through his last seven years of tax filings and that involves his companies as well. MOM, check any employment issues!!

The salaries of the High-Flying Civil Servants and Ministers should be cut to take responsibilities for all the mistakes.
