"many of the initiatives that were raised by the PM in the drive to a Smart Nation have already been invented – e.g. the driverless cars by Google and other companies. There is a possibility that in copying the example of other countries the office will be imitating projects making Singapore a follower and less of a leader. How is the Smart Nation Program office envisaged to drive the development fresh new initiatives and what are the immediate to medium-term targets that have been set by the office?" - Pritam Singh

"The prevailing wisdom seems to be that as they are caregivers and are likely to be at home looking for their loved ones, they do not need to travel so much. This is not correct, and in some cases, transport costs can be high. I hope the Ministry in cooperation with TransitLink and MSF can look to better assist caregivers holistically and even more so, if there is little or no other family support to help the caregiver." - Pritam Singh

On Parking:
"I have written to the HDB Bedok branch office on three occasions, twice in the middle of 2013 and the third time towards the end of 2014 suggesting the construction of a multi-storey carpark to replace the existing heavy vehicle carpark, CP B46. The multi-storey carpark can come in the form of heavy vehicle parking facilities at the ground floor and normal parking lots above the ground floor, akin to the multi-storey carpark located at Block 848A, Yishun Street 81. This, I hope would be a win-win situation for the HDB in their administration of the site as well as for the residents, stallholders and patrons of the market and food centre. Additional carpark lots will also alleviate the parking issues faced by residents staying in the Block 544 to 547 Bedok North Street 3 cluster." - Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap

On Season Parking Rates for Passenger Van:
"I would like to suggest that HDB work towards adopting a standardized measure in dealing with the aforementioned issues. First, to allow all Class 3 passenger vans to park at any HDB residential carpark as long as it could fit within the standard car lot. Second, to apply the parking rates in accordance to the carpark ascribed to the vehicle. These two changes, if made, will go a long way in streamlining administrative procedures and lightening the costs for self-employed Singaporeans with vans at their disposal for the purposes of their livelihood." - Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap

On AVA:
"Yesterday in Straits Times, an article titled, ‘Pigeon problem ruffles feathers’ reported an increase in complains on pigeon related nuisance. That is, 1420 cases in year 2012, 2080 in 2013 and 2490 in 2014. In view of the increase in such complaints, what else can AVA or MND do to assist? Lastly, as mentioned by a forum writer and I agree, that is, preventive measure is a better way to deal with this, through better design of buildings to prevent roosting and entry by birds." - Lee Li Lian (李丽连)

On Certificates of Entitlement:
"We could consider splitting Category D into D1 for motorcycles not exceeding 200cc and D2 exceeding. As 65% of motorcycles registered in 2013 and 2014 are not exceeding 200cc, it can be estimated that the D1 category will have a quota of 1,111 total COEs for the months of February to April 2015. This is equivalent to Category C for goods vehicles and the open Category E, so we should not see price volatility for Class 2B riders and the riders can be protected from higher bids by Class 2 riders.
Alternatively, would it be possible for motorcycle owners to pay the COE by instalment, so as to lighten their financial burden?" - Lee Li Lian (李丽连)

On Dengue Outbreaks:
"Despite the best efforts of residents and NEA officers to do source eradication, the spread of dengue has persisted. Ministry of Health data shows the total number of reported cases of dengue in 2014 was 18,315. This was down from the 2013 figure of 22,101. However, both 2013 and 2014 figures were a massive jump from 2012 where only 4,602 dengue cases were reported. In the first 7 weeks of 2015 alone, there were 1,468 reported cases of dengue.
It is vital to pursue other responses." - Sylvia Lim

"From May 2010, there have been four incidents of such break-ins detected at MRT depots, the latest in November last year. This was despite various security measures being employed by SMRT and reassurances given in this House since 2010 about a comprehensive security review being undertaken by the Public Transport Security Committee to address security gaps in our entire transport system.
Are these measures working? Just last month, on 27 February, train services were stopped briefly in the evening as a result of a man walking on the viaduct between Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang stations." - Sylvia Lim
