One of three Thai men charged with the murder of a Melbourne man in Brunswick four years ago is expected to be extradited to Australia to face court.

Thatiya Terdputham is one of three Thai students accused of the murder of Luke Mitchell, 29, who was stabbed outside a shop on Brunswick Rd in May 2009.

Mr Mitchell, a chef, is alleged to have broken up a fight involving the three Thai men outside a nearby nightclub.

It is alleged the group then followed him to the convenience store, where he was stabbed five times.

The accused men have been fighting extradition to Australia but Thaitiya Terdputham has now told a Bangkok court he wants to return to fight the charges.

Co-accused Sarud Seehaverachart continues to fight extradition. A third man has not been apprehended.

The extradition is expected within 90 days.
