Back to jail for Swiss teen

Frederique Wanger was jailed for 12 months and fined $1,000. She had been jailed earlier for theft.
A EUROPEAN teenager broke into a family friend's house here and made off with items totalling $1,583, less than two months after her release from prison for theft.
In a district court yesterday, Frederique Wanger, 19, admitted to housebreaking and theft as well as theft and overstaying. She had climbed over a perimeter wall and through a sliding window to enter the home of Mrs Rebekka Christa Aicher Koch, 50, in Sunset Way in the early hours of May 4, while the family slept.
Her boyfriend and alleged accomplice, Muhammad Nurashik Ahmad, 20, whose case is pending, acted as a lookout while she stole two phones and $850 in cash. The couple then fled in a taxi but were arrested the next day in a Geylang hotel.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Anamika Bagchi told the court that investigations also revealed that on March 26, Wanger was convicted of theft of two bottles of liquor from Cold Storage at Parkway Parade mall. Her five-week sentence was backdated to Feb 19.
After serving her sentence, she was issued an extended special pass to remain in Singapore till April 26 but she failed to apply for an extension after this date. She then overstayed in Singapore for nine days. On May 1, Wanger, originally from Liechtenstein, and the co-accused stole two mobile phones, worth $770, from Nurashik's relative in a Sembawang flat.
Wanger's lawyer said his client had a prior relationship with the co-accused and was under his influence and feared his abuse.
