Thanks for the clarification. I was only referring to the biological sense, of scientific genetic heritage. Sri Lanka is an ancient land with archeological evidences dating back to 125,000 yrs ago & ruled by many. It is an independent sovereign nation today, dating back since its Dominion status in 1948, into a republic by 1972. The majority of citizens are Sinhalese, & Buddhism (70% of population) is its official religion although it also allow other mainstream religions to freely thrive.

Religion in the hands of mortal men can be a force of good, or bad. To help the Sinhalese People facing national debt crisis, its religion may be of help. There are many Buddhist temples, some dating back to even 250BCE, when Buddhism was introduced to Ceylon (ancient Sri Lanka ) by the son of the Buddhist convert great Emperor Asoka.

There are an est 500 Million Buddhists around the World, and there are many Buddhist festivals celebrated in Sri Lanka, of which April & May can be introduced to the World for Buddhists to make a Pilgrimage to Sri Lanka. It is high time to open up the country fully for Tourism as it vaccination rate is at 77% & can be further improved. With 1 million Buddhist arrivals, each donating US$100 each, it will have US$100Million dollars. Appeals to Buddhists worldwide thru honest & reputable charity agencies for similar amounts of US$100 = est US$50 Billion, matching the seize of its debt.

With such amounts, US$ will be converted into Sri Lankan Rupee, creating a demand for rupee, shoring up its rupee through the exchange rate, helping its exports to earn more & imports lower inflationary costing to its citizens, & preventing the rupee from sliding further which will harm its citizens.

As there are international lenders willing to loan billions now to Sri Lanka, it will need to ensure such funds are corruption free & use such to improve its logistics & infrastructure for tourism to boost its revenue & treasury. Also, it will critically need to end the protests peacefully through innovative compromises & get everyone gainfully employed, & TOGETHER, on a common goal, to end the financial crisis & progress the nation.
Its the muslim terror attack that destroyed sri lanka tourism. And possibly the economy. And then covid hit.

We mortals can no longer change the past, but we CAN still change today & the future.

And today, Sri Lanka is facing an economic crisis. With its treasury empty, it means NO funds for social spending - education, medcare, transport, welfare, etc at even the basic level for every citizen there. Rather than to play blame games, it has to FOCUS on PRAGMATIC SOLUTIONS for the today & tomorrows, for the sake of its citizens, as it prides itself as a Democracy. Politics can come later, but bellies must be fed, in even the worst circumstances internal or external, & solutions are many if only they focus on priorities than blame games. Each life is precious and means something special to another, & thus the growth of Civilization or else only regression of a nation will set in...

I think its too late to plan if you got nothing left. You plan when it start to go down, not when it reaches the bottom.
Sri lanka not the only one. We have turkiye, nepal, egypt( which just ordered rafale jets and have two helicopter carriers), ....

It is NEVER too late to plan for anything, so long as Humanity still exists. While each nation may have its own issues to deal with, NOT all nations will have to deal with the same issues at the same time unless it is on a planetary scale, & even then, the best of worst choices will have to be courageously made, to go down standing than on knees, as our brave ancestors had done to give us our todays..

Some nations whom are more financially stable would have funds gathering dusts in banks & under beds. The World is run on trade - $. All it needs is $ to help, and in return - fair interest on $ or in kind.

While Sri Lanka treasury may be empty, it does NOT mean it can't do anything, as already, there are nations pledging & willing to loan billions to JUMPSTART its economy - IMF, India, China, etc, as well as many common Humans if the appeal is sent out to Humanity.

We are only Humans & will not leave anyone behind. It is true that there are still many nations that need help, & such help WILL be given, but on conditions - to ensure that loans given are for all & not corruptively wasted by few individuals, & right political policies that will ensure that those hard-earned funds lent by many are used for the nation's economy jumpstarting in a better sustainable path for the long term.
